Had no idea who that weather bloke was making a hash of the chequered flag waving.
Do you mean Stormzy?

If you do, are you being serious?
Slightly facetious but I couldn't name a song he's sung and wouldn't know him if he walked past me in the street.
I'd struggle to name one of his songs too, but when I see him on the TV I recognise him (especially when helpfully subtitled "Stormzy"), and I've seen enough on the news to know he's a massively popular grime artist and Brit Award winner, who has established a couple of scholarships to Cambridge University and who headlined at Glastonbury this year, so I wasn't taken aback or flummoxed by him waving the chequrered flag. He certainly made less of a hash of it than Pele or Winnie Harlow.
I've never heard of him - I saw him as couldn't place him...and then the name Stormzy - not a freaking clue!
I do find that genuinely surprising.

I don't. I just read all that and I still don't know who he is. I also care even less.

I'm 37 so I should know his songs I guess - yet I don't smile

The name sounded vaguely familiar but that's it. Some of us don't follow the general media that closely. I've worked with artists this year that may or may not have gone on to have top ten, I have no idea. Literally last week I spent quite some time helping a lady find her phone before someone pointed out she was an Olympic gold medal winner..

I find a lot of F1 fans are a bit aloof to general goings on in the media world. A lot of it is complete nonsense, which I always assumed was a reason to escape to the safe and technical world of F1!

It was a flipping pleasure to be able to choose to watch full race coverage on Channel 4 instead of Sky, the C4 package is just so much better.

I agree. Watching the race without having to deal with Croft was a joy.

LeClerc was very impressive. Looks like he learned from his interaction with Max in Austria.

Ferrari needs to back LeClerc now and give him the number one status.
You keep posting this.

It’s irrelevant.
If he outperforms Vettel then he’ll be ahead of him. Why does he need No 1 status?

Hamilton doesn’t have No 1 status, why does Charles need it?

Quick break in the name calling from one that only just saw the GP (F1TV): *cracking* race. Glad Silverstone is booked for the next five years smile!

Couldn't care less who provides the coverage , any is good , I watched on Sky and it was free . Fantastic race and great entertainment , as for Stormzy not a clue but I don't feel it detracts from my life .

Really enjoy all the sport yesterday, we were spoilt for action all day and the British GP didn’t disappoint.

I thought it was touching to see Charlie Whiting’s wife and children there who I noticed were both quite young.

It must have been a very emotional day for all.

On a negative note, am I the only one who think Crofty is a complete arse. He sounds like an excited 4 year old, gets confused during his commentary too often and is about 100% of the time absolutely the most irritating pundit inn Sky. I can take the others, some being better than others but that Croft bloke.... what a complete tt.

In races where Hamilton has had pole Bottas hasn’t stayed with him as long as Hamilton stayed with Bottas, numerous laps with less than 1 second gap. Sure Hamilton was lucky with the SC but by being up with Bottas it meant that he would be more likely to benefit from random scenarios.

Bottas did well under pressure from Hamilton as did LeClerc with great defending.

This looks like the 3rd season in a row where Vettel gets flakey when under pressure.

Overall a great race, one of the best of the last couple of years.

P.s. I don’t mind Crofty but it’s Brundle that really adds to the TV experience. I think that Sky’s team is the best commentary team. For some reason I rather like Nathalie Pinkum just the way she always seems so excited when interviewing drivers.

I quite like her, not sure it would matter if she talking absolute bks, I would still like her........ wobble

I’ve spent some time with Brundle and he’s a genuinely nice guy yes

His stories about racing against Senna for example came to mind this weekend when LC had clearly thought about giving Max as good as he gets.

Brundle suggested you had to fight Senna back otherwise he would simply walk all over you - it’s as much about mind games as driving.

I also won rather a lot at the bookies on a tip from Brundle by predicting a world champ before he ever was.....a certain SV.

You really have to ask this? Do you know anything about Ferrari? He was out performing before, and was told to pull over, if he had No1 status that wouldn't happen.

I agree heartily. The Sky crew are universally annoying, and Lazenby looks like a mole. Someone buy him a set of sunglasses FFS biggrin

Another brilliant race yesterday. The whole season has been one of the best in recent memory. Vettel needs to retire though. Dr. Evil has stolen his mojo big time.

Has anyone said why his first stop was medium to medium tyres and forcing a second stop?

Can’t say I blame him, always the bridesmaid, never the bride poor fella.

I really like him but I’m not betting any money he’ll ever be a world champion.

He did not believe a one-stop was possible. His early change may have been necessary as a result of his big lockup during the first couple of laps.

A truly stunning race made all the better by C4’s excellent coverage. The safety car certainly shook things up, but created some exciting duels throughout the field. Shame Lando did not benefit and even Russell was not next-to-last.
