Why would Williams want a Red Bull reject?
There again... Stroll was mentioned to Merc.I think that it was said tongue in cheek... Toto & Lawrence Stroll are good friends. ( allegedly)
[/quote
But Williams.... Albon is favourite,
Vandoorme also not denying a return .

Did Horner just basically say to Sky F1 that Russel was leaving Williams? He is going on about Albon getting a seat at Williams....
Why would Williams want a Red Bull reject?Horner is TRYING to find him a seat @ either Williams or Alfa.
Albon would prefer Williams... but apparently Mercedes, as their engine supplier aren’t .too keen & have been trying to steer Albon away to Alfa.

That makes more sense of Horner's interview then - I wondered why he was saying that "the team next door" had phoned Albon four times to say no. Felt like girls on a night out walking up to the ugly blokes and telling them "you have no chance don't even think about it".Horner is TRYING to find him a seat @ either Williams or Alfa.

It does feel a bit like dreamland for Horner to get Albon in at Williams. It would be like Wolff trying to get Russell (or Ocon, Wehrlein when they were the Mercedes junior driver) a seat at Alpha Tauri.

Horner is also looking into the future... as an engine supplier.
( Foot in a slightly ajar door maybe).
Mercedes rang Albon four times... Horner just told him to ignore them

Yep. 18 other drivers had the opportunity to do the same but they didn't. To appallingly misquote Alan Partridge, Russel was the 2nd best driver at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Reminds me a little of Hill in the Arrows at Hungary in '96 (IIRC).

Georgey boy is not so clever and smug now
He is pushing hard to wring the neck of a not that great car and putting it far higher than it should be. And most of the time succeeding. And given his team mate also lost it I think we may be able to suggest the Williams is not an easy one to drive fast........

Exactly. And he's a reject reject sacked not once but twice off the redbull. And a rubbish one at that literally all Albon had to do was get semi decent results as redbull had no young driver lined up unlike what happened with gasley kyvat but he couldn't even manage that.

When was he smug? Or ‘clever’?
Honestly, the F1 forum really seems to attract a certain sort recently.
Great driver, doing well, consistently outperforming his car and we get comments like this.
Last week - His stupid reaction to that podium was completely OTT from what was a farce to be classified as a race. He was coming across well before that.Honestly, the F1 forum really seems to attract a certain sort recently.
