Just caught up. After Zhou's crash it's so typical for Monaco that it was leclerc who ploughed through the debris field he left...

But weather looks good, RBR struggling, all good signs for an awesome quali tomorrow smile
Red Bull didn't use softs ...
I'm aware, but both cars looked uncomfortable in general around the circuit. Just not settled.

It looked and sounded like max in particular was short of confidence in the car.
Max for pole tomorrow then hehe
Probably biggrin

Although currently over half a second off and the car still looking twitchy when he pushes.

Maybe i'm half right, he's got car issues so will only destroy the rest of the field a 'little bit' rofl

Hamilton will be up there.

Who'd have though RB would be 0.5 sec behind?

Who knows? We don't know how heavy fuelled the RBR's are compared to the rest.

But half a second, FP2 at Monaco? That's a lot for a top car, that is normally 'the' top car. Remember this is the only safe FP session to really push quali sims as it's the only session you can really afford to hit a barrier at.

If the gap reduces considerably during FP3 I'd guess they've found a working setup and Max will find the P1 lap. If not and they're still a way off through FP3, then the struggles are genuine and this just isn't their weekend.

Interesting and encouraging sessions. I listen in on BBC. Max struggling but I will eat my hat if they don't pull something out of the bag. I think they said Lawson is doing the overnighter in the sim. I do hope the season starts to open up a bit. With things appearing more competitive I wonder if it makes it even more likely for someone to cause a yellow red or sc.

Shall we have a drinking game with the phrase 'the glitz and glamour'?
The tedious roulette wheel / James Bond type intro pieces.
Later in the year the intro will be lots of tubby slot jockey's sat on stools pumping coins into a fruit machine......its F1 vegas baby!

In car shots from both RBRs look awful. They may sort it out for FP3 and Qualifying, but they are making a habit of getting the initial setup badly wrong at the moment.

Newey in Civies on the headphones in the pits, "yeah tweek that more, nor more than that, keep going, keep going... endstop - that'll do"... Switches Channel "Charles - sorted it, at least half a second..." biggrin

Still working on next years car, they will put this years set up and parts on before qualifying and that will be that.

Joking aside, I bet they wish they could get his input - must be missed!

Chances are they'll be okay and they'll sort it out... Probably.

Monaco practice would be a very weird time to be developing a future car.

It's almost as if RB have had to stop doing something with their car since the architect of all their secrets has left the fold.

The RedBull was pretty marginal last year at Monaco until a banzai last lap IIRC?

It’s more I think the RB20 hates being raised up for street circuits - same issue as Singapore

The RB19 was slow to warn up its front tyres last year, but kind to them in the races. Monaco was always going to be tricky

Laura Winter, Will Buxton, Lawrence Barretto and Jolyon Palmer, possibly the worst F1 commentating line up ever?

Jolyon is better as a commentator rather than a presenter.
I’ve grown to really like the F1TV lineup. The pre and post shows are also excellent and as they are from ‘F1’ themselves they seem to get great access.

Blimey, Hadjar nearly had a huge crash into a slower car in F2. How he reacted that quick is astonishing.
Brown trousers in the tunnel for sure.
I was amazed he managed to miss both the car AND the barriers! If he'd collected the back of the car it might have finally proven whether a car can drive upside down on the top of the tunnel!
