No, as that would make you happy. Can't have that.

I am sure you hated F1 when Schumacher was winning everything or Vettel during the Red Bull years.

The posts back then were about teams having too big of an advantage but now its fine laugh
I’m curious.

This thread is all about the greatest driver of all time and you clearly believe that Hamilton isn’t it (FWIW, I agree with you, as per previous posts)

So, in your mind, who is?

This thread is about Hamilton being the GOAT of F1 and not who is the greatest driver of all time.

Pretty sure it would be fine for you to tell who you think is though?

I am sure Hamilton would agree as did Michael Schumacher.

Senna, I assume? It's difficult as you seem to speak in code.

If so, as I have said before I'm a really big Senna fan. I think Hamilton has moved the game on though. He has the best qualities of Senna, Prost and Schumacher, mostly without the flaws. Mistakes from LH are so rare as to barely register. His consistency is outrageous. He drives without getting too emotionally involved.

We also have to remember that Senna was ironically blessed with a dominant McLaren, particularly in ‘88 wink

And this is what happens when you have a far superior car.

I think you are forgetting about Hamilton pre-Mercedes when things were not going well and he basically spat the dummy on many occasions.

Senna was cut down in his prime and would have won more Championships. The fact Hill got close to Schumacher in 1994 makes it extremely likely Senna would have been Champion in 1994.

Alas, the Williams team failed him but that's another subject.

Yes and how many years? 1988 for sure but he wasn't against a number 2.

Sooooo, you couldn't answer the question? Unless you're serious and you only watch F1 to make me unhappy. Bizarre! hehe

It's not a case of 'there's none so blind' as much as 'this is the only way I can get people to respond to me'.

We all know it is pointless engaging with him, yet we continue to do so. This could be an interesting thread, with lots of insights from those who have information. But what we get is a troll trolling.

It's unfortunate that there are trolls. They have a need, a bewildering one to most, and the only way they can get some sort of fulfillment is to belittle others, upset them and confuse. Whether there's any treatment is not something that bothers me.

Don't engage. Leave trolls to stew. Ignore them. It is harsh as they can't have much else in their lives, but tough.

We could get this thread back to an interesting level if we don't feed those who have no intterest in the sport.

And before anyone points it out, I am as guilty as anyone in the FtT criticism. I'm sorry but I used to get irritated with the nonsense. I've not done it for a while, and it feels good. Thoroughly recommend it.

It's a shame that you can't discuss things properly on the internet without some idiot messing it up. It's like Twitter is infecting the world.

It's true that it is all too easy to get sucked in by trolls. It's pretty much the definition of pointless, too. I suppose what happens is there's a temptation to educate someone who appears lacking in knowledge but really it isn't that, they seem to just want attention and perhaps derive satisfaction from deliberately trying to wind up more 'normal' people.

I think Derek is right, probably the only answer is to ignore.

I don't understand what people get from engaging it - its the equivalent of trying to eat soup with a fork.

So you're a troll if you don't agree that Hamilton is the GOAT of F1.

Why does the title of this topic have a question mark? Why not rename it the Hamilton love crew?

No, you're a troll because you are completely blinkered when presented with information that doesn't suit your narrative, you repeatedly refuse to learn from people with much greater understanding and knowledge than you, notably people involved in the sport such as team managers and drivers, both current and retired. You try to make arguments from illogical, ridiculous positions such as Button getting more points over a 3-year span.

And now I've gone and done what I said we shouldn't, fed the troll...banghead

Button did get more points over a 3-year span so is that not factual? Everyone said at the time Button was crazy moving to McLaren and it was said Hamilton wasn't happy but that could just be the media.

Yes, Hamilton beat Button 2-1 over three seasons but it was extremely close.

Who is the best driver statistically from 2010 to 2020? Hamilton.

But I still don't agree that he is the GOAT but definitely top 5 with his stats.

You are actually right about Hamilton not being happy. In 2010 with the arrival of Button to the team they choose to work on the car to make it more to Jenson "flavour" as they thought it might help them getting better. They knew that Hamilton could kind of adapt his driving style to the the car (I can't remember if it was to do with the balance at the rear or front? ).
Problem, the car was actually worst than they thought and Hamilton voiced the issue a few times and explain how they could go towards a better car for both driver by changing a few things. Of course they ignore it for a while until they decided to try it. Surprise the car was a lot better but it was to late in the season, they carried the idea to 2011 which benefited greatly mclaren as Button managed 2nd in the championship.
It was said that that refusal of McLaren to listen to Hamilton despite he proved the engineers they were wrong was the begining of the disinterest of Hamilton for McLaren.

No wonder Brawn and Lauda snatch him from McLaren. They knew he was going to help them change a car from being good to a winning championship car.

Your use of your cherry picked stats to prove your point is what makes you a troll: if you're going to measure Button against Hamilton, why not show the bigger picture?
Button raced in 16 F1 seasons, got one championship, 15 wins, 50 podiums & 1235 points - quite a good tally, all things considered, & I speak as a Button fan.
Hamilton has raced in one less F1 season (including the 2021, only one race in), has won seven championships, 96 wins, 166 podiums, & 3803 points - & he's not finished yet. See why your argument seems so ridiculous?
