Twitter feeds from Ted Kravitz and David Croft are saying that Christian Horner has confirmed to Ted that Vettel is going to Ferrari.

I really don't understand this - if Vettel thinks Ferrari are going to be so good next year then Alonso is a fool to leave. And if Alonso is right that it's not worth staying then Vettel is a fool to go there.

Question is now, Kvyat is going to RBR, will they keep Vergne on for another year to partner Verstappen?

The speculation is that Alonso is on his way back to Woking. That could be interesting, to put it mildly.

Sadly, from a British standpoint, that probably means that Button's time at the top is over.

For years people have questioned if his car brought him success rather than the opposite. It's fair to say this season he has been shown up a bit by a driver who was a bit of an unknown quantity.

So would you protect your reputation by going to a team that wasn't doing so great as long as you were ahead of your teammate, or would you sit tight and be second in the team again?

I'm sure cash plays a deal in this, but I do wonder after years of success, maybe Vettel really is a bit shaken.

Honda and the Japanese love Button. He's extremely popular in Japan and also has a Japanese girlfriend too. If anything I would expect Jenson to stay and Magnussen to be loaned out to another team.

I would also expect Carlos Sainz junior to be promoted to Torro Rosso.

I really don't think that this oft-quoted relationship is that strong. If it were, we'd have heard that JB was to remain a a McLaren driver for 2015 already. The Sainz comment might be true though. Don't rule out Verstappen stepping into the second Red Bull though....remember where you read that :-)

Amusingly on the BBC Sport website it's suggested that Button will be replaced due to being outperformed by his younger team-mate, have they not seen the drivers standings? Button may be struggling in Quali but he has only been beaten by Magnussen twice all season on race day.

One of my technicians Brothers works at the MTC, and has just told us that as far as everyone there is concerned Alonso will be there next year! Apparently he will replace Magnussen and potentially in 2016 Hamilton will come back and replace Button. The first bit I reckon is true but not so sure about the Hamilton replacing Button part. We shall have to wait and see though. Stranger things have happened smile
There you go. Someone with an inside track...and the first part of the quote is bang on the money....so me must give credence to the possibility that JB retains his seat for 2015. The more unlikely element is Hamilton...but RD has been in contact with Lewis regularly and must have the long game in mind...but reuniting the class of '07 is a very big ask!!!!

On another thread someone has the inside line on McLaren and has been right about Alonso...he claims it's Magnusson that'll lose his drive...

Next season is looking very interesting. Good for Kvyat, I think he's deserved that drive

BBC, and now Sky, are convinced that Button is out. Personally I hope that Button is given the chance to go toe-to-toe with Alonso, but his age is against him.

It's funny how the pendulum swings...no mention of Da Costa now that he's been parked in DTM....not sure if Alex has the momentum....depends on whether he secures GP3 title?

There's every chance Alonso might sign with McLaren, but it seems extremely unlikely that'll happen until 2016. However, what is far more interesting to me is whether his reported interest in investing in an F1 team might influence his decision on where to (or indeed whether to) move to next.

My personal opinion is that he desperately wants to win one more title both to round it off to a nice treble and to prove to all (and maybe himself) that he still has 'it'. Moving to McLaren in 2016 would allow him the 'luxury' of seeing whether the Honda/McLaren alliance is working and likely to deliver him thst title.

Disclaimer: this is pure speculation smile
So do we think Alonso may trade equity in Enstone for salary or take McLaren's coin? That's surely the final roll of the dice?....

He's only one year older than Alonso, 34 vs 33.

Jenson said in an interview earlier "whatever happens, don't feel sorry for me", which kind of feels like an admission of defeat, sadly.
