Urgh, I really hate these snippets before the ads - this week towards the end they quoted something like "getting a bit closer, he's really trying" in relation to Lewis - but I don't want any hints. If that is the most excitement coming up then he obviously isn't going to do it is he?

Why no David Coultald this weekend.
He has other commitments.
Brundle was off too.
He won a race!

Have the channel 4 highlights got shorter actual race time this year? Just watched Baku and there was only about 45 minutes of track time shown.

They've been restricted by Sky as to how much of the actual race they can show as this year the highlights are only because Sky allow them rather than being contractual as before.

That was hilarious especially as Jones was laughing when he said it, I thought the show was really good, Jones is excellent and Gunther was a top pick as guest.

I love it when EJ is on he's so funny without meaning to be that's the best kind of funny.

Although I think the show was poorer without DC, I really liked Gunther and hope he becomes more of a regular.

I think that even 45min was too much for this particular race, having seen the youtube highlights 6 mins or so is just about perfect.

As above. I think the agreement is that C4 / Whisper are restricted to a maximum of 50% "on track" action from both the qualifying session & race itself. Normally most noticable during the qualification sessions where it suddenly jumps from 10-12 minutes left to just 1-2 minutes left.

Coulthard and Brundle have 3 races off this season.

Not sure what the remaining 2 are....

Sochi (Russia) & Suzuka (Japan) says Brundle

Brundle has (or has had before) a 16 race contract, think DC has committed to FW.

Brundle normally misses a spring race (fly away), Hungary then an autumn race (fly away).

Can’t remember DC missing a race in 10+yrs

C4 have extended their contract for highlights plus live British GP for another year, until the end of 2020.

Thats great news!

Looks like I will be watching this weekend's F1 on the highlights only. I have the choice of Sky1 or channel4 highlights, Sky's highlight program is 1 hr and Channel 4 is 2 hrs. Which channel gives the best coverage and the least tv commercials?

C4 have an hour of ‘filler’ and an hour of race. Typically 3 add breaks during the actual race.

Just watch the race on demand on sky, it’s shown in full.
