I don’t think Chad needs to worry about Brewer showing her up on the track next year. Think it could be safe to say her career is kept afloat by her being a model / influencer, which in fairness she does have the assets for
Yeah, not a good look really. If she’s going to be four seconds off the pace, it doesn’t matter how many Instagram followers she has, wrong advert for women in motorsport. No problem with the glamourous photo shoots, most young ladies like to get dressed up and it’s great for marketing/sponsorship - but first of all, you’ve got to be able to drive the car!

I had to search who Brewer washttps://www.the-sun.com/sport/8254711/lindsay-brew...
Spoke with my guy who knows about these things and he said she won’t be quick but she’ll be popular.
In the US you don’t get crap for coming last, you get praise for trying.
He sent me a screen shot of the test at Indianapolis last week, where, as said, she was 4 secs off, but presumably her first run in the car.
Meanwhile Brit Louis Foster was fastest and looking like the ‘favourite’ for next year. Chadwick was 0.6 behind him.

Slow but hot. She has the credentials.
Absolutely, I still don't understand how these women get a drive, someone must be bank rolling them?Makes you wonder if there was no super licence in F1 if one of them would get given a drive? I guess the 107% qualifying rule means they would never actually make it to a race.
I’d never heard of Lindsay Brewer until now, but I don’t see any real negatives.
Yes, she says she wants to be in IndyCar, the Americans’ equivalent of F1, which may be unrealistic, but she is generating attention to the topical subject of ‘women in motorsport’, which does have big media interest.
If she has 3m followers, then perhaps many of them will start following IndyNXT which is good for the Series and the other drivers who benefit from that extra visibility.

There might be a short term boost in popularity if she brings her social media followers. But if she proves to be a few seconds off the back of the field, that could reflect badly on her, on IndyNXT, and possibly on the perception of women in motorsport.Yes, she says she wants to be in IndyCar, the Americans’ equivalent of F1, which may be unrealistic, but she is generating attention to the topical subject of ‘women in motorsport’, which does have big media interest.

Jamie Chadwick might not have what it takes be among the elite, but she isn't an embarrassment to herself or the sport.

I kind of see it like the Six Nations Rugby - bear with me.
As the father of daughters, even though we are not planning on racing, initiatives like WS, F1A, this ‘influencer’ - Brewer, etc, are reassuring efforts to get more girls interested and involved in motorsport. It’s certainly getting people talking - as this thread is proving.
I liken it to Italy participating in the Six Nations, some 20 years ago. Initially out of their depth and regularly finishing last.
An embarrassment ?
Not really. They are still a developing nation in the Rugby, broadening interest in the sport in Italy, inspiring new talent and quality to gradually emerge. Their first wins were huge steps forward, and whilst they are still perceived a ‘wooden spoon’ team, there has been notable progress. They are not far behind, and most people want their efforts to succeed.
These things take time, but necessary steps if we want any sport to be more inclusive.

If it was just some chump of a bloke parading around that he was super fast when everyone knew full well that he wasn't just from looking at his past results, everyone, male and female alike, would be more than happy to slate him.

There’s nothing stopping anyone taking part, bar ££
In Brewers case, she has the ££, but not the ability
I wasn’t referring to the ‘taking part’.
My analogy was in reference to the comments that most current female drivers, Chadwick excepted, are going to struggle at the back.
That may be correct. But, as I understand it, the whole purpose of these initiatives is to generate higher level female talent from grass roots, hopefully in the next few years.

News tonight that Garcia has a fully funded prema drive in FRECA for 2024. That’s going to be interesting, and seems that’s secured for winners of future seasons as well.
That’s a reasonable place to go next, and a great prize to win. Good luck to Marta next season in Euro F3. Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
