Before 1994, the BBC used to cover far flung races (such as Brazil) with Murray and James sitting in the London studio watch a TV monitor. That made life really difficult for them because they were 100% dependent on the local TV producer for the images they saw. I don't know what timing information was available to them but I doubt it was up to much.
I saw Murray in London on the same day as a Grand Prix in the late 80's. I asked him how he could be in two places at once and he joked about an identical twin. Lovely man.

There’s some good interviews around with veteran F1 journo Joe Saward.

His job during the race at said flyaways, was to be on the phone from the circuit to the BBC producer in the London studio with Murray and James, watching the pit entry, the timing screen, writing a lap chart, and pointing out to London what the local TV director was missing for the commentators. Which was quite a lot back then, when the TV director would regularly track the ‘local’ driver in the midfield while ignoring a battle for the lead!

Thankfully we now have several timing screens and data streams, F1 produce the World Feed themselves with a travelling team, and the UK TV broadcasters mostly attend all the events in person.

Just got home from a day out thinking I'd watch the Azerbaijan qualifying on catch-up, but I can't find it. Is C4 not showing F1 on online catch-up anymore?

I just watched it. They put it up about an hour or so after the time they show their (delayed) coverage.

Well I can't find it. I've hunted all over C4's catch up pages, found plenty of F1 related stuff, but no way to watch anything.

I just go to the search and type in formula 1. Well I don’t type it in as it remembers my searches.

I've tried that.

"Home" gives me a section called "About the programme" and if I click the "Episodes" tab I get a list of episodes but nothing is clickable to take me to any watchable content.

I've checked that I'm logged in.

Anyway, I'm off to bed now. Given up on it!

And me too

I watch free foreign feeds online of live races and get commentary from 5 Live if I'm not fluent as is the case today

I didn't appreciate how much I was paying for Sky and TBH had had enough of listening to the drivel most of them spout anyway

Cheers

Yep, it's there now. I was hoping to watch it when I got home yesterday. I can't understand why it takes so long to appear.

Probably not helpful, but while it's still 'on' (as in currently being broadcast) you can go to the watch live section and restart the programme from the beginning.

Will then happily let you watch it buffered up, and you can pause it.

That option's only available on Mobile devices AFAIK. Won't let us do it on our Samsung or Roku.

I've found it to be fairly consistent tbh - it goes up on All4 once the C4+1 broadcast has finished, give or take 5mins.

Just seen the Halifax tv ad a couple of times now.
Probably the epitome of a terrible modern ad.

PlayStation (and presumably Xbox) use some sort of ‘mobile’ version of All4. I find the full fat version takes ages to play through the tv. PlayStation still isn’t as quick as my phone to update though, so here’s the tip:

Play highlights on phone for at least a minute and then pause it. A minute or two later log in through the PlayStation and it’ll appear on your ‘continue watching’ list! This seems to be at least an hour or so before TV All4 updates and has worked for each race I’ve not caught live.

Channel 4 news tonight. None of that "Turn over if you don't want to know who won" nonsense, oh no. "Jos Verstapen wins ..." were the first words spoken in the sports round up. No-one can hit mute fast enough to avoid a ruined evening.

Didn't realise his dad was still racing.

Last thing to watch would be the News, shirley?
