But a question of brand suitability and image also has to enter the equation at some point. There are moves Daimler could make to see that the team is repurposed and still works in their favour.
A new earth car! biggrin

Careful, you’ll have Sparta slapping you with the fan boy label. Every driver will have had luck that, good that benefitted them and, bad luck that benefitted a rival.
Rosberg was a bloody good driver. In 2016 he got his mindset right, focused and dug deep. When he wasn’t winning he was there for a good haul of points and benefitted from Lewis’s reliability issues. He got the job done but.... not taking anything away from Nico, he didn’t destroy Lewis. Even with Lewis’s reliability issues Rosberg only prevailed by 5 points. If, for instance, his engine hadn’t let go whilst in the lead in Malaysia, Hamilton would’ve been champion.
Here’s some good analysis of how ‘16 played out for Mercedes and their issues. Probably won’t suit Sparta’s agenda though wink

As others have previously reminded us, getting the rub of the green is always important to gain that micro edge. Hamilton had enjoyed running with his engineering A Team.

With equal front row starts Rosberg and Hamilton were evenly matched there is little doubt.

Button and Hamilton were also evenly matched, to the point where McLaren offered Hamilton a salary cut in 2012, down to £5m IIRC, based on his performance alongside Button.
Fortunately Mercedes came along with a big bag of cash and a car that Lauda knew would be quick (developed by Costa / Schumacher / Brawn)

Button must've been well chuffed ! biggrin

You really can’t help yourself can you, I’m actually laughing!
It’s a Vettel thread... we can revisit when you inevitably wade into the next Hamilton/Grand Prix race thread ploughing that same old furrow. wink

All we learned from the button/hamilton pairing is that if Alonso had kept his head he would have trounced Lewis over the course of his contract at mclaren.

The easiest scenario is he didn't blow a fuse at hungery quali and sit in his pit box delaying lewis. He would have probably qualified 2nd behind hamilton and probably finished there . That was enough points saved to win the title his first year.
Instead he went bananas at the treachery visited on him and was demoted to 6th in quali.
His actions also meant Mclaren didn't feel the need to punish Lewis for his snide move to ignoring orders.
Mclaren pretty much deserve their decent into the wilderness and its amazing he was stupid enough to go back there.
But like boxing you think they care but its really about the $$$ win or lose.

Struggling to see the relevance of this on a Sebastian Vettel thread?

Maybe seb reads it.
At the end of the day he would likely be drawn to something with his name as the title. Nice for him to read general F1 views lol.

Any news?

I'm guessing there are Mercedes talks on and if he doesn't get that seat he'll take a sabbatical

Honestly, the empty streets are probably more exciting than most Monaco Grands Prix.

Lots of residents leave for the GP week and rent out their apartment.

The zero tax and no fks given about dodgy sources of income are the big draws for Monaco residences.
