Some pretty eyebrow-raising comments on here.
Much as Masi's actions were deplorable in their incompetence, nobody deserves death threats (to them and their family) and online abuse, which some on here appear to be condoning....
I agree that it certainly doesn’t deserve threats, but online abuse is perfectly understandable. Actions have consequencesMuch as Masi's actions were deplorable in their incompetence, nobody deserves death threats (to them and their family) and online abuse, which some on here appear to be condoning....

"They were shocking," Masi said of messages he received on Facebook. "Racist, abusive, vile, they called me every name under the sun.
So, to be clear, you're saying this is "perfectly understandable" and therefore OK?I'm genuinely astounded, not to mention disgusted, that you would say that.
I'm completely against any form of bullying, online or otherwise.
I am not surprised that it has happened though. Masi was responsible, single-handedly it seems, for one of the most appalling scandals in sporting history. Having entirely ignored the rules of the sport, he went 'full troll' when he had the temerity to say 'Toto, it's called a motor race.' I can't agree with or support abuse in any form, but this fellow will be forever disgraced, and rightly so.

Yup. Predictable responses to be honest.Much as Masi's actions were deplorable in their incompetence, nobody deserves death threats (to them and their family) and online abuse, which some on here appear to be condoning....
He fked up, and he lost his job as a consequence of that - Sending abuse, racist messages and death threats to the bloke or his family isn't on.

I agree. I still can’t really believe it happened to be honest. Just butchered the rules to enable the max win. I mean, what other sport would have allowed that to stand?I am not surprised that it has happened though. I also don't think it's acceptable to message someone abusing them, if even if it is "only" to call them a "cheating toe rag"
It's symptomatic of our society that so many on this thread are perfectly comfortable with these actions and even supporting them. It's reprehensible.

Understandable means comprehensible. Racially abusing someone online for any reason is incomprehensible to me. I'm again surprised that it isn't for you.

No-one is supporting the bullying, rather many people understand why it happened after the events of last season, when Masi himself became the story as much as the competitors. And now again, he’s back giving interviews. I also don't think it's acceptable to message someone abusing them, if even if it is "only" to call them a "cheating toe rag"

NDA or not, he really needs to crawl under a rock and disappear, he can spend some of his payoff money on hiring a psychiatrist if he needs to get his head sorted, it doesn’t need to be done in public.

If Masi were to explain his actions, I would try to understand them, until then I’ll call him a cheating toe rag.

I like to understand and comprehend things, that doesn’t mean I agree with it. I haven’t seen anybody on this thread who finds racists and threatening behaviour acceptable let alone supporting it.

So threatening behaviour isn't acceptable and you don't support it but "He'd deserve it".If Masi were to explain his actions, I would try to understand them, until then I’ll call him a cheating toe rag.

What 'race' is Masi? Has he been abused for being an Aussie?apologies to Masi, if he actually bothered delving into the profiles of those commenting on his race- but let's be honest, this wouldn't the first time that Masi has mis-interpreted something regarding 'race' would it?

Is the likelihood of the NDA just that he was informed by the powers that be that under no circumstances was a race to finish under a safety car?
If that turns out to have been the case, that there was pressure from F1 or FIA to avoid an SC finish, it probably added a zero to the number written on the cheque! coyft said:

Astonishing attitude. I thought PH was better than this.

So, unless you get the explanation that you feel Masi owes you, then the abusive messages he's been receiving are justified?

Yes, I think that about sums up my attitude. Bit like Boris Johnson partying in Downing Street. Actions have consequences. Don’t behave like a if you don’t want to be called one.Astonishing attitude. I thought PH was better than this.
