Some pretty eyebrow-raising comments on here.

Much as Masi's actions were deplorable in their incompetence, nobody deserves death threats (to them and their family) and online abuse, which some on here appear to be condoning....
I agree that it certainly doesn’t deserve threats, but online abuse is perfectly understandable. Actions have consequences

So, to be clear, you're saying this is "perfectly understandable" and therefore OK?

I'm genuinely astounded, not to mention disgusted, that you would say that.

I'm completely against any form of bullying, online or otherwise.

I am not surprised that it has happened though. Masi was responsible, single-handedly it seems, for one of the most appalling scandals in sporting history. Having entirely ignored the rules of the sport, he went 'full troll' when he had the temerity to say 'Toto, it's called a motor race.' I can't agree with or support abuse in any form, but this fellow will be forever disgraced, and rightly so.

Yup. Predictable responses to be honest.

He fked up, and he lost his job as a consequence of that - Sending abuse, racist messages and death threats to the bloke or his family isn't on.

His actions caused a great deal of anger and upset. A small proportion of those will vent that anger in an unacceptable way. Being understandable and OK are two different things. I think it’s perfectly acceptable to call him a cheating toe rag.

I agree. I still can’t really believe it happened to be honest. Just butchered the rules to enable the max win. I mean, what other sport would have allowed that to stand?

Understandable means comprehensible. Racially abusing someone online for any reason is incomprehensible to me. I'm again surprised that it isn't for you.

I also don't think it's acceptable to message someone abusing them, if even if it is "only" to call them a "cheating toe rag"

It's symptomatic of our society that so many on this thread are perfectly comfortable with these actions and even supporting them. It's reprehensible.

What 'race' is Masi? Has he been abused for being an Aussie?

I don't think that really matters, but he is of Italian descent.

No-one is supporting the bullying, rather many people understand why it happened after the events of last season, when Masi himself became the story as much as the competitors. And now again, he’s back giving interviews.

NDA or not, he really needs to crawl under a rock and disappear, he can spend some of his payoff money on hiring a psychiatrist if he needs to get his head sorted, it doesn’t need to be done in public.

I like to understand and comprehend things, that doesn’t mean I agree with it. I haven’t seen anybody on this thread who finds racists and threatening behaviour acceptable let alone supporting it.

If Masi were to explain his actions, I would try to understand them, until then I’ll call him a cheating toe rag.

So threatening behaviour isn't acceptable and you don't support it but "He'd deserve it".

He’d deserve it. Still can’t forgive all the commentators who just turned a convenient blind eye to the whole matter.

I think a few on here could do with a few comprehension lessons. Calling someone a is not threatening them, it’s abusive. If he doesn’t want the abuse, then he’s perfectly entitled to explain why he made the decisions he did. His chosen instead to take the money and sign an NDA….

kind of does if your going to play the 'race card' ...when you're 'white'

apologies to Masi, if he actually bothered delving into the profiles of those commenting on his race- but let's be honest, this wouldn't the first time that Masi has mis-interpreted something regarding 'race' wink would it?

Eloquently put.

Is the likelihood of the NDA just that he was informed by the powers that be that under no circumstances was a race to finish under a safety car?

If that turns out to have been the case, that there was pressure from F1 or FIA to avoid an SC finish, it probably added a zero to the number written on the cheque!

So, unless you get the explanation that you feel Masi owes you, then the abusive messages he's been receiving are justified?

Astonishing attitude. I thought PH was better than this.

Yes, I think that about sums up my attitude. Bit like Boris Johnson partying in Downing Street. Actions have consequences. Don’t behave like a if you don’t want to be called one.
