managed to win in spain in average car tho
In the start of tyre random-ness season. 7 different winners in the first 7 races so doesn't shine that great a light on him, points more towards luck sadly.Sutton said:

This is a truly unique post on Pistonheads....There's 100percent consensus!
I thought of leaping to his defence to create an online row.
But I can't. He's an arrogant, selfish, inconsistent, clumsy, dangerous, misguided, disrespectful rockape.

Seems they might be. From a post race interview with Mansur from Quantum Motorsport who are bringing a lot of money to Lotus, their money should arrive next week which it seems makes Hulk a possibility.
I think that the thug is the option if the money fails to come through, but if it does they'll tell him to FRO and take Hulk.

genii cannot afford to take the chance on that not happening. Plus, despite the abuse heaped upon me by others on here, we can all see that they have a very strong and fast and confident driver in Grosjean...which reduces the need to bring Hulkenberg. .
I have a horrible feeling he's going to get the second Lotus seat purely on the basis of money. He's not completely talentless, but he is clearly a bully type character and I have no time for people like that. I'd much prefer if he was left to vanish quietly from F1 forever, if it wasn't for the money no-one would put up with his crap.

You may revise that opinion. From the Hulkenberg thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/1qqqjz/w...I will be very very surprised if it ever arrives.
To be fair to him, that Spain win wasn't lucky.
He stuck it on pole, in dry conditions, with exactly the same environment as everyone else. He then took off in the lead and managed the race really well.
You could argue that the tyre gods smiled on him that day, but then the same could have been said for a few drivers in the first few races that year.
Going up against Senna (not the best yardstick admittedly, but no Max Chilton) he comprehensively outscored him last year.

But yes, he's still a complete tool.

There are always outliers. This is definitely an outlier. Ain't gonna happen again unless all the planets align and lady luck plays her hand.
McLaren gifted him the pole not to mention crap Pirelli tyres but he duly took advantage of the circumstances and beautifully controlled the race with Alonso not far behind. Not far off from Hill dominating in Hungary in an Arrows with the superior Bridgestone tyres (and gets bonus for overtaking Schumi)
and yes, he is a 2@ and should have been on suspension at least once.
