He seems to me to be well settled.

Mind you, according to Autosport, it is a done deal that a Merc will win in Oz. That's pressure, although I'm sure LH would prefer that to the type of pressure on Vettel. I used to have a Renault 12: I know what the German must be feeling right now.

The chances of Red Bull or any of the other Renault teams getting their cars in any sort of shape before Melbourne now looks remote. Apparently the RB10 is still overheating every time the driver tries to push.

RBR look set for a humiliating number of DNFs in the first four flyaway races, while they try frantically to develop something resembling a competitive 'B spec' car for Barcelona.
...and yet there is still a little voice in my head that says they'll be competitive in Melbourne.

The little voice was saying that about McLaren last year though...

Williams look to be in pretty good shape. I will be interested to see how well-motivated Massa is this year.

You have to feel for Ricciardo. Finally gets a seat with the most dominate team in recent times, and the car initially looks to be a bit of a dog.

Webber certainly timed his exit well!

I think they'll be points-competitive, but nowhere near the podium. Red Bull, that is; I think there's every chance of a McLaren podium.

Did i read on here that their will be a deadline for engine mods shortly?
Can someone explain this.
The engine manufacturers have to deliver a complete powerunit to the FIA tomorrow.

Theoretically the specification will now be fixed.

However, there are exceptions and manufacturers can request that they be allowed to make changes on the grounds of reliability or costs.

Renault: Can we make changes on the grounds of cost
FIA: What Costs?
Renault: It'll cost Red Bull the championship if we don't!

Personally I will be disappointed if Redbull don't manage to pull it together. I don't think anyone wants to see them dominate yet another season but at the same time watching them struggle to get out of Q1 or finish a race won't be good for F1 IMO.

I have a feeling Ferrari might be a bit stronger than they have let on so far...... but if you look at the T1/T2 times the Mercs are still massively ahead.

I was under the impression only certain components of the power unit are frozen this year? Does that include all the electrical gubbins, which is probably the bit most of them are struggling with?
They get changes for reliability anyway. So if it's not going to finish a race regardless of packaging, which seems to be the implication. Then I don't think they'll be blocked from changing anything they want.

I just saw a video on YT of Kimi binning it. Was that this test or the previous one? Didn't see what happened though as the camera man was asleep. Was it driver error?

Surely reliability is a bit of a grey area, the engine may be reliable at X bhp but when ramped up to Y bhp it becomes unreliable. Where is the line drawn when an upgrade for reliability is introduced to make the engine more able to make the extra bhp?

Got a link. He binned it quite badly in the last few minutes of the last test. Wrote the front off. Haven't heard about him doing it again today.
