Yes as far as I know and it worked a treat with me last year. Just watch the feed and listen to Radion 5 live. Admittedly not the best but watching it live for a fraction of getting Sky.
Excellent. That's me sorted for the season again.

It'll be interesting to know how the viewing figured in the UK gave been affected by F1 switching to Sky.
Just reading F1 magazine and audience figures in UK, Italy and USA increased last year.
However globally there was a 50 million drop!

I would imagine the full programme would be streamed over the internet, if you know the right site to go to.

I am sure I read somewhere that the UK figures were up on BBC but down on Sky and that the increase was caused by the races the BBC showed live.

Yeah, imagine if they showed all of them....

The BBC is so corrupt and misguided, £1Billion move to Manchester where no guests want to appear on shows, the staff get their cars nicked and don't want to move so have to keep all the London based stuff anyway. They are now ditching a channel to save £100million... makes the money they "saved" by letting go of F1 look stupid.

Its no wonder people are reluctant to pay the license fee.

It wasn't the BBC's idea to move to Manchester. They were forced to by Gordon Brown.

it was their idea to keep broadcasting wimbledon (1 event, 2 weeks each year) rather than F1 (20 events, across the year), despite the F1 audience being a demographic that was not well served by any other BBC output.

the number of free tickets to wimbledon supplied to the BBC each year was of course incidental in this decision.

What's that got to do with anything?
Most broadcasters get tickets for events they cover.
I wouldn't think the BBC get any more or less than the others.

The decision to rein back on their F1 coverage was a straight economic decision based on viewing figures and in the light of restrictions on increasing the licence fee.

Therefore, all those who accuse the BBC of being wasteful should actually applaud a decision based on economic reality.

I'd prefer if this thread didn't degenerate into yet another anti-BBC fest.

i am very pro the bbc. the F1 had higher viewing figures than wimbledon, attracted a viewer demographic that the BBC trust had specifically targeted increasing the relevance of programming for, met and exceeded all of its viewing figure targets, and still got axed, essentially in favour of wimbledon, which met none of those requirements, but was tennis and nice.

The BBC are probably pulling in almost as many viewers as they did BEFORE they pulled out of live coverage of all the GPs. So - from a pure economic sense, they've actually pulled a stroke of genius.

Decent TV audiences for minimal outlay.

I wonder how well the investment is paying off for Sky?

It's a shame the first race of the season isn't on BBC. I think, regardless of which races are shown throughout the year, they really should show the first and last of the season.

I wonder how many seasons it will take before we don't have a BBC/Sky/dodgy download thread.
Is this the third season? I've lost track, but it feels like it's been going on since the dawn of time.

At least we have access to F1. I wouldn't be surprised if, in a few years time, it will be Pay per View (like boxing).

Does anybody know if the Now TV 1 day pass allows on-demand services, or can you only use it to watch events live?

I tend to avoid the internet on race days and watch the race with a beer in the evening once the kids are in bed. The BBC extended highlights are normally fine, but there are some races (like Australia) where I'd like to have the entire build up and race available.

I think I pay like 60-70 quid for all sky channels! that's movies, sports everything! now by todays standards and the stupid prices the simplest of st can cost these days, id say that's good value smile just buy sodding sky you tight arses and enjoy the races properly.
I will admit I spent the start of last season with my dads sky go login, it was st! took 20 mins for the screen to un blur its self and then there were some races where it just wouldn't load at all and pausing just doesn't work after a few mins. one of the best things I did last year was get SKY! roll on the 16th.

What - £840 a year to have a set of channels that I'd hardly ever watch.

I don't think that is good value at all.

If I was spending £840 on myself, it wouldn't be on Sky TV.

I can think of plenty of things I would prefer more for £840.

Mark Webber will be doing a few pieces for BBC during the year, "...looking at stories within Formula 1 from his unique perspective."

This may or may not include pointing at the Red Bull garages and laughing his arse off hehe
