Seems a nice bloke. I wouldn't dare speculate to the exact cause of his exit. I'm sure the politics in these teams is immense but sailing is a cracking (and involving) sport and I wish him all the very best with it.

I think I'd be more generous and buy him his own rather than share mine! But always struck me as a genuine bloke. I bet he has some tales to tell....

Martin always struck me as a decent bloke, so I do hope that he can make this work for Ben and his team.
I went to a forum organised by James Alan. It was superb and Whitmarsh was there. He really made the day. He was straightforward and self deprecating, this last without being OTT.

I got the impression that he tried to answer each question honestly, although when something was secret/embarrassing he didn't so much lie and admit he could not answer.

After the forum he stayed behind for a chat with the fans.

As you say, a decent bloke. I was sorry to see him leave the sport.

McL's 'my' team and some of the shine went for me.
i was lucky enough to meet Jenson and Martin whilst having a tour of the McLaren factory a couple of years ago. Martin politely knocked on the door, asked if it was ok to come in just to say hello to Jenson and when invited to join in our conversation about McLaren possibly doing a competitor to the Elise, Martin was engaging, very pleasant and a thoroughly nice chap to spend time with.

Not so sure i would have had the same experience with Ron....

Personally, based on my (limited) experience of the chap, I wish Martin every success in whatever he choses to do.

Was introduced to Martin & his wife earlier this year. A nicer couple you couldn't wish to meet, after 20+ years marriage they are clearly best friends as well as husband and wife.

A very genuine, honest and likeable chap.

I wish him every success with the America's Cup project - and hope to see him back in the F1 paddock once he's finished on the high sea's.

Finally a previous poster mentioned he now has a 911, so automatically gains PH points for that.

He was on a contract there which ended once their America’s Cup challenge finished. I heard he was going to join the Formula E roadshow, is that announced now? I wonder whether he went to Ron’s Albert Hall gig last Friday?...
