Alonso out of Bahrain GP
Discussion
He got a partially collapsed lung.
I had one of those once. It hurts like a b
d. Broken ribs (also done) are nowt compared. One knock on of course - greatly reduced ability to breathe, much worse than you'd think. I was getting out of breath when talking, and needed to rest 2-3 times to walk from my flat front door to the street (150 yards tops).
Of course the tin foil hatters will say "but he said he was OK" - IMO most sportspeople try to "man up" and get on with it, but he can't "beat" an MRI scan..

He had a 46g impact, has fracture ribs and a pneumothorax. The latter I understood to be trapped air between lungs and chest cavity rather than a collapsed lung. I had one once.
To me, he wanted to race, turned up to race but rightly the Fia docs have stopped him. I think it's largely to do with what could happen if he crashes again
If anything to me, alonso seems more affable this year and maybe better motivated but we will see

Well, he just put Herbert in his place following the inane comments Johnny made!
You'd think he'd know better, comparing this with something that happened 40 years ago in completely different circumstances. But then again, maybe not.
Herbert is a complete coward, he tried to backtrack and come across as chummy when Alonso walked over and Fred rightfully put him firmly in his place. You'd think he'd know better, comparing this with something that happened 40 years ago in completely different circumstances. Sky's coverage is so poor, they have idiots like Herbert (who was comprehensively destroyed by every one of his team mates therefore vastly unqualified to judge) being controversial for the sake of it, pure tabloid approach. And they really expect us to pay for this? No chance.

Nail on head. Pure tabloid headline making.Sky's coverage is so poor, they have idiots like Herbert (who was comprehensively destroyed by every one of his team mates therefore vastly unqualified to judge) being controversial for the sake of it, pure tabloid approach. And they really expect us to pay for this? No chance.
Seems he has appointed a new "Nurse" to speed up his recovery, gone back to Russian "medicine", sorry it's in Spanish, but the pictures speak for themselves.
