I've been a bit out of the loop for the last week, is Alonso back in the hot seat for China?
It's not been confirmed 1 way or the other. He will be checked by the FIA's Dr again and if he is not passed as fit then Vandoorne will drive.
..as much as I like seeing Alonso race - having Vandoorne race at the last event really added a bit interest for me.

Nice one - Sky reported earlier that Alonso would be back this weekend.
He might go there and not be passed fit by the FIA. Cracked ribs are a heck of a risk in the event of a shunt.longblackcoat said:
Agreed, but I suspect the bigger risk is that he's OK to start with but gets progressively more knackered after, say, 50 laps (high g-forces, constant battering from braking and kerb-running) leading to a crash or causing an accident by being even more of a mobile chicane than usual.
It could be bad memory but didnt Alonso drop and do pushups infront of the medical examiner when he was told he wasnt allowed to drive? I think I remember a commentator saying that.I dont see an issue with alonso, I just feel its a bit sad that for such a good first result that vandoorne is then out.

Hmm, five-place grid penalty for Hamilton for changing his gearbox. Judging by his recent starts, that probably means he'll be about 10th by the first corner which should make for an interesting race.
While it's not great to see the Mercs walk off into the sunset for another year, at least the title battle is looking like it might give 2014 a run for it's money. Last year Hamilton was unflappable and happy to let Rosberg get away from him, knowing that he could out-race him at his leisure. If Rosberg's winning streak continues/Ham retires from the race, I wonder how long Hamilton's ultimate confidence can hold up. Early days yet of course!

Martin Brundle mentioned it, Herbert stayed quiet because it went his argument that Alonso wasn't doing all he could to get in the car and race.I dont see an issue with alonso, I just feel its a bit sad that for such a good first result that vandoorne is then out.
