Shield will be tested at Silverstone FP1 session by Ferrari. FIA have released an image of Williams' shield design. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/130613...

Looks better than the halo, still not sure of whether the drivers view will be distorted, especially as it's a 3d curve from side to side and top to bottom, the Red Bull visor only looked curved side to side.

I think it looks all right. Reminds me of the large windscreen used on the 1970 Ferrari.

I don't understand why people are worried about looks, considering the ugly excrescences that litter the average 2017 F1 car already.

The driver doesn't look through that.

What is proposed has serious issues practically.

I knew somebody would respond thinking that I was saying they were the same. They aren't and I didn't say they were. I just said just reminds me of it - because they are both shallow and blue tinted.

Won't be an issue, it's very similar to a modern jet fighter windscreen in terms of curvature, and no doubt material and manufacture.

Gorgeous, isn't it.

I built the Tamiya 1/12 kit 40 plus years ago.

I've a hankering to do another one.

Ah Cuprabob. I remember fondly your words of wisdom and higher end banter over on R32OC back in the day.

If they are planning that, they may as well just go closed cockpit and put wipers on.
Still......looks better than the Halo

In simple terms which head injuries would this have, in reality, prevented? Is the massa spring hit the only one? I can't remember anyone getting struck on the head apart from him.
