Having face planted off a bike and smashed the front of my mouth pretty badly it can take a bit longer to recover / fix than you might think. Can take 2-3 weeks just for the swelling to go down enough for them to actually sort out the damage, which then puts you back to square 1 with swelling etc.

Its a nasty injury and can effect you mentally too esp if you have to go onto soft foods for weeks and have lots of visits to dentists and hospital.

I would rather break my arm to be honest.

I guess he will get the best doctors and dentists on the job which will hopefully speed things up.

Reported he has had surgery and expected to recover to start the new season.

Great news.

Timely reminder for Alonso that there are a lot of dangerous things other than F1. Hope he shrugs it off as he must have fallen of a bike many times.

Ouch indeed, pain can linger after fusion.

Will be a challenging season for Alonso.

laugh

Gives him a good excuse if things don't go too well too...

Alpine must be fuming... bring back a star driver at great cost and this happens banghead.

All current drivers whinge.

In Alonso's case he'll probably whinge less from the injury pain than when he had GP2 power biggrin

broken shoulder after mountain bike fall iirc ...same injury as JPM's tennis one

I think Webber just hid his injury as feared he wouldn't be allowed to race, JPM just fibbed about how he acquired his - allegedly
