A number years ago a few friends and I went to Spa for the whole race weekend for a cheaper price than Sunday at Silverstone. I'd be surprised if costs have changed much.
Likewise.

Have done Spa & Monza for less than a weekend at Silverstone.

Have been to Silverstone a number of times, everything from GA , leaving home at 04:00 to be in the queue for when the gates open at 7 and then sitting sleepily in the same spot all day getting sun burnt.

To quite nice, picked up at the last minute gold grandstand seats.

For the price being charged these days I just don't see the value in Silverstone, I don't even think it's one of the best places for spectators.

£40 buys you a ticket in the stands for a premier league football match. That involves 90 minutes of football in one afternoon of a national torunament.

£295 buys a grandstand ticket at Vale for a World championship .... that includes, Friday / Saturday / Sunday. It includes this year, 3 GP2 races, 2 F1 races (sprint & full length), F1 Qualifying, F1 Practice, GP2 practice / qualifying. Porsche Carrera Cup practice / qualifying / race.

Sidelines include world class air displays, track displays, other trackside rubbish.

Is it expensive then compared to football / rugby / tennis ??????
Plus the fact that you can’t really get tickets to see world class players at Wimbledon without queuing for hours, getting lucky, or knowing the right people. I think it’s worth it. We’re going to Silverstone this year with grandstand tickets smile Haven’t been since 2007! Living 40 mins away helps. I’ll trade a few beers for my own bed!

I agree, it is not particularly good value, but it's likely to be the only option we have for a while yet. It's possible to make a case that it is not terrible value if you attend on all 3 days.

I've also done quite a few weekends at Spa, Monza, Barcelona, France, etc. They all have their pros and cons, but I'd say the overall Silverstone experience is pretty good. The circuit itself is a very good one, much better than Catalunya or Magny Cours, although it's disappointing that most of the viewing areas are a long way from the track. I do think Silverstone has a great atmosphere though when filled with F1 fanatics.

No one knows yet. All depends on the Government and how free we really will be in July.

Does anyone whats happened to Dadford road camping/car parking ? I had them booked for Motogp last year and the email just bounces now.......

Failing that, I guess i will have to pay Silverstone, but that in itself is complicated.

My journey to the circuit brings in the back way, through Dadford.

If I go on the S/stone website, it gives options for ONLY coming via M1 OR M40, so I really dont know what to book.......

Depends on priorities and time I guess. £295 buys me a full annual pass at Castle Combe (typically 20+ days), a Goodwood FoS Friday ticket and a weekend trip to the Goodwood MM quite comfortably.

I did the GP a few times but on balance preferred the latter option in terms of bang for buck.

The price is what it is, and yes other F1 events are cheaper, but the fact is that Silverstone can’t add capacity fast enough and it’s sold out every year. (Until some stupid virus came along, anyway).

Annoyingly I live abroad, and there’s no way I want to deal with airports, testing and quarantines, otherwise I’d love to be a small part of what’s usually the single biggest ticketed crowd of the British sporting calendar.

Again Steve I find it literally staggering, beyond belief that people are almost desperate to get to Silverstone for F1, I must be wired up wrong as you could not pay me money to watch F1 or pretty much anything there it is always over priced to rake in profit and pay for hosting fees, you are so remote, distant, yet for some reason, I know not why, people flock to it like bees to honey, it simply mystifies me.

I don't mean this to be rude but you must lead some kind of astonishingly dull existence if you hold f1 and its fans in such contempt yet cant find any better use of your time than hanging around an f1 specific discussion forum repeating yourself.

FI @ Silverstone is now 100% about being seen to be there, all the Insta slags etc etc, plus its a huge corporate bunfight. Most of the usual standing areas are covered in temporary corpaorate tents just to show off that thay " at the F1 over the weekend ya know....."

And ignoring all that, is still is a shyte circuit to watch racing at.....

BUT, all being well, I will back for 8th time to watch Motogp as it is the only chance we get in this country......

Yeah I can’t wait for F1 at Brands Hatch! Much better than Silverstone. Hypocrisy at it’s finest smile

Yet you mock F1 fans who attend the only opportunity to watch it in this country?

No, I havent worded my post right.

I dont mock anyone that is a true fan of the sport and would there in the pissing rain and freezing cold.

I ahve no interest in F1, but I have been to Silverstone the week prior to the GP and every square inch is a corporate brothel.

The grass roots fans have to suck up big entry costs and then they dont get a decent view of the cars as all the best spots have been filled with marquees.

The track has long been known as agreat track to be ON , but a poor one to be AT..........

And for perspective, a 3 day advance early bird for Motogp is about £80......

Going on Friday.

Love Fridays - get all the time in the world to take photos without worrying about missing something important, plus don't have to stress about "all the action" happening where you're not, but with added bonus of fewer people.

Gave up going to F1 race days years ago - it's just not possible to follow the race properly.

I usually go but I'm going to give it a miss this year given the current uncertainty over restrictions, etc.

Friday's are very "mellow". Long, lazy walk around the track not worried about missing anything, stopping to sample various vantage points, take in the various razzmatazz when its not too busy.

Following the race has become a lot easier in the hybrid PU era now you can hear the trackside commentary! I've taken my tablet with sky go to brands for races but I doubt you'd get reception with the crowds at silverstone.
