Croft has to go

The Ron burgundy ‘joke’ made me want to punch the tv.
Blah blah blah... Ferrari’s have painted their cars burgundy, I’m calling the drivers Ron this weekend, after Ron burgundy, stay classy ferrari, stay classy.
Completely lame ramblings which he’d clearly thought about prior and managed to slip it in thinking it was clever and funny. Wtf?

The guy cannot shut up for 5 seconds which does my head in. If nothing is going on it's ok to not speak. Wonder if he gets paid per word.
Ironically I find the Indycar commentary much better and less shouty (and their american!). Sure they get excited but only when there is a need to

I have always found him somewhat annoying at times with his over-the-top screaming, but generally tolerable. Yesterday really was on another level. I simply HAD to mute him a dozen or so times. Simply reducing the volume is insufficient - when he gets into that banshee mode, he becomes intolerable at any volume.

Name a time when many on here are happy about anything?
Come on, his commentary is an assault, viewers want to watch and listen to the race, not have to turn the sound down because he is screaming gibberish.I thought Sky recognised disabilities, autistic viewers have to watch with the sound turned down if Sky is the only way to watch the race live.
His job is merely to describe what you are already looking at.
To most fans it’s virtually irrelevant, but he just can’t STFU, but throws in his high pitched blathering just to really upset us.
Even Brundle irritates me every race weekend with his habitual
“He’s opened the DRS - that’s T-H-E D-R-A-G R-E-D-U-C-T- I-O-N S-Y-S-T-E-M“
This is a dedicated F1 channel - surely they can believe that only morons are watching.
Oh wait a minute..... we are paying them for this insult.

You make a good point and something I must just zone out of. There have been a few times I've had to google things whilst watching NASCAR as they don't explain it (jacking chains being the last one). So I do understand the need to sometimes explain it but not every race. Who would you have instead of Crofty? Ben Edwards is knowledgeable but I hate his voice, Jack Nicholls from 5 Live is decent but maybe not TV standard.
I quite like David Addison from ITV 4. He's really good on the BTCC and as the circuit commentator at the Silverstone GP weekend.
Alternatively do we need a 'lead' commentator? I quite liked the Brundle and Coulthard setup the BBC had in 2011. Put Mark Webber in alongside as well.

Alex Jaques who does F2 is good, especially when he is calm. That's the main thing really, Ben Edwards is fine when he's calm too, but unbearable when yelling. These guys need to be told it's unnecessary and undesirable to go crazy. We're watching a motor race, not the loss of the Hindenburg.I quite like David Addison from ITV 4. +1 for Alex Jaques.
He did very well with the F2/F3 this weekend (as he does every weekend) managed to convey the excitement without any shouting and got 99% of things correct (as far as I noticed).
Croft started winding me up on Friday with his pronunciation of the corners and it continued all weekend (by which time I had zoned him out).
SKY need a clear out / cull as there is a fair bit of dead wood.

The 'main' presenter has a difficult job to keep some narrative going, even in the boring bits. They are a bit like the background music in a film that has to follow the story and pick up the rhythm for the exciting bits, but recently Croft has been more like Legard (ie a knob).
However, Coulthard really grated for me. He doesn't have a 'broadcast' voice, croft is better in that, if he could just bite back on the more inane comments and have at least 1/2 second think before starting on the next bit.
He always seems to want to produce a sound bite.

David Croft also kept saying that arrabiata means ‘hungry’?
This had my piss on low boil all weekend. In fairness to Croft, it was actually Jenson Button who told him during FP-something that it meant "angry" but also "hungry and angry" - which Croft immediately got carried away with, then spent the rest of the week shouting "HANGRY" at every available opportunity. He's basically a 14 year old boy in a 50 year old's body. And I'm being unkind to a lot of 14 year olds there.
Pretty interesting read this, all his shouting kind of passed me by.
It's annoying when he gets stuff wrong (saying Hamilton had a puncture at Silverstone while watching footage of Bottas), or takes forever to tell us something that's been onscreen for ages.
I'd much rather Crofty to alex jaques, find his voice proper annoying, imo of course.

If you think Croft is bad you should have a listen to the French commentator:

Ironically Ben Edwards used to do champ cars for Eurosport in the Montoya era, and was highly technical and not shouty. Ironically I find the Indycar commentary much better and less shouty (and their american!). Sure they get excited but only when there is a need to
