I don't think Nyck been that bad but if he doesn't show any promise then what's the point.

Does DR going in the car kind of make the Red Bull driver programme a bit redundant?

De Vries: shines in a Williams; dies in the Red Bull family.

Albon: under-performs in the Red Bull family; shines in a Williams.

Points to two teams run very differently. I acknowledge they were at different ends of the grid for Albon, but still Alpha Tauri is no Red Bull, which indicates general family feel to me.

DR Only has to beat Yuki which doesn't sound too hard but if he doesn't will be the nail in his F1 career.
Lol.. not going to happen. Yuki will ruin him.

This years Alpha Tauri is obviously a dud but DR has little choice other than to take the drive - the best he can hope to do is grab a point or two which is all that Tsunoda has managed. Unless of course it was the drivers all along and a DR with his mojo back shows us something I suspect none of us are expecting ...

Not unexpected from them. Over the past few weeks they've been publicly throwing doubt on their selection of De Vries and bigging up Ricciardo again. It was only a matter of time really, given how we know they usually treat their drivers.

Yep, all true enough.

Dani was quick enough for front row at Silverstone in the test today.

Yup. Not surprising though. I'm actually surprised they gave Yuki as much time as they did.

I wonder if this is a test to see whether Yuki or Riccardo will be alongside Max next year. Perez must be worried even more now laugh

In the RB presumably, not the AT?

Yes, in the RB

On a technical level his feedback will be useful for AT to take the car forward, moreso now he has experience of the current RB.

Useful metric to judge Yuki against and if Perez is kicked out then it opens up a seat for Lawson.

Also my logic, on both points.

Yuki has dispatched De Vries, matched Pierre.. can’t see Dani Ric being up to it tbh, happily proved wrong.

A decent seat in the upper midfield is required to test him. (I really rate the guy, Lando levels).

Lawson has done a great job in super formula too.

Who else was testing? Did times for the tyre tests every get released for when Schumacher drove the Mercedes earlier in the year?

Perez might for now just be relieved that they didn't pop in the AT and DR into the RB. Must surely have been considered.

Dani was in Maxs current RB19, even had a couple of spins.. driving style totally different according to reports.

I'm not so sure about Yuki. He seemed miles off Gasly for most of last season and ended up with half the number of points. This season seems better but he still seems to be very prone to errors. I really like him but I'm still a bit unconvinced. Still seems a very long way off being in the full fat red bull to me. You're right though, beating DR would do him no harm.

I was going to suggest he didn't help McLaren much but I accept Red Bull know exactly how good his feedback is and he's good enough in their eyes.
