Well they had the best engine last year...
But didn't have the right fuel to make the perform as well as the other teams that used it.PW said:

It could equally be argued that Maclaren are continuing to advertise West.
Not "equally" argued. The Marlboro livery was LITERALLY the Marlboro logo. The West livery is the West branding applied to a silver and black car.
If you showed just the two colour schemes with no other branding and asked a random selection of people to identify the sponsors, I think very few would guess West without prior knowledge of their involvement with McLaren.
and immediately think Marlboro?

Now THATS more like it, and it immediately makes you look at the honda sign on the side. It's different, and still McLaren at the same time. FourWheelDrift said:

If Honda wanted the car to look like that then they should go the whole hog and develope a chassis. (Or buy a team).
Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely colour scheme, it's just not a McLaren.

The livery below was originally silver but I have changed the silver to white (AkzoNobel-Sikkens do more than just chrome paint). The rear is very Honda as it's similar to the Super Aguri livery, whilst still keeping the McLaren corporate grey at the front.
I think that looks fantastic.London424 said:

Weren't they the back of the pack of the Merc cars? Now some are expecting Honda to have developed an engine faster than Merc while at the same time improving all aspects of the cars performance.
I think bookies would love to take your money.
Hopefully the next few days will show what Honda have done, I don't know anything other than the speculation, my only thought is that Alonso would have wanted to see something concrete about the power figures before signing for this year to make sure he wasn't jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. A year out would be better than that but it seems he is prepared to accept some compromises from comments he has made, maybe accepting reliability issues in favour of performance?
Not long to wait to find out!

The team gear is black and white. Can someone Photoshop the launch pics to just change the silver to white?
I think that would then look much more effective.
I've liked the McLaren kit over the last few years as it was subtle. Surpised the car livery is so close to the previous vodafone era thoughI think that would then look much more effective.

They were at the back as the other Merc powered teams all used the Petronas fuel and oil developed with and for the engine, and around which the engine was developed. McLaren are contracted to Mobil and therefore couldn't use it and lost out because of that.

Yet they barely beat Force India with 300% of their budget, and still were beaten by RBR & Ferrari who would have quite happily junked their PUs for a Merc on Mobil 1 fuel in a heartbeat. They massively underperformed.Hopefully the next few days will show what Honda have done, I don't know anything other than the speculation, my only thought is that Alonso would have wanted to see something concrete about the power figures before signing for this year to make sure he wasn't jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire. If the engine can at least match the Merc they should be there or thereabout...

I was never a fan of the old team wear. But I'm rather looking forward to wearing a McLaren Honda T-shirt on certain Sundays this year.
Almost the same as last year.... White with black shoulders instead of grey, plus a diffrent badge.
Last years ones are only 10.99 this years £40 .
