Sebastian Vettel
Discussion
In fairness, whilst I would have wholeheartedly supported a black flag at the time of the incident, posthumous messing with results does the sport no favours. They took their punitive measures at the time and were too lenient, at the time. He shouldn't be punished again, a week afterwards.

Very well put. They were too lenient. To apply further penalties now doesnt look great for anyone. The championship still has its rivalry, a fresh pantomine villian for people to hate as he stands between Hamilton and the title, and throngs of idiots to stand and boo from the stands.
Hopefully there will be plenty more incidents on and off the track to brighten up the remainder of the season.
Formula 1 used to be a sport but now it is about money so why would we be surprised that Vettel gets a slapped wrist for the second time.
When F1 was a sport and the drivers were sportsmen you never touched the other car unless by accident.
Now it is acceptable and the message to all young drivers in cars and karting is provided you apologise its ok to hit your opponent .
A sad day indeed
Money talks.

Please explain how "money talks" in this case ? how has Vettel made "money talk" ? When F1 was a sport and the drivers were sportsmen you never touched the other car unless by accident.

No-one earned a bean out of this.

I think a public apology is quite good. It's more than certain other World Champions have done.
It's hollow and meaningless. If he meant it then vettel would have apologised a week ago.At least he apologised - which, for the moment, should be taken at face value. But he is skating on thin ice.
If he does it again it'll be looked at unfavourably, just like they said last time.
Translated, Vettels statement says: "I'm very sorry. Once the lawyers and management pointed out to me the possibility of losing points, possible race starts and handing the championship lad over to Hamilton, I of course immediately recognised what I did was wrong and insincerely apologise for any wrongdoing that I didn't do"

Very well put. One of the biggest criticisms of the way Mad Max used to handle things was the way he would interfere with stewards decisions, send out his goon squad and mess with the results post race. Todt has effectively kept the power in the hands of the stewards at the track on the day and bringing sensibilities into it, this has to be the best thing to do. I know, I know... internet forum, sensibilities have no place.Once again this brings into stark reality both the issues with a specific decision stewards have made, as well as the difficulties they have in the wider context when having to make them. Mark Blundell's comments on all this are a very good insight into the role.
For the record I wanted Vettel tarred and feathered.
