Same way they transported it to Barcelona last year.

In the past hasn't their testing livery generally been orange?
Only a couple of times. They used an orange livery in testing in 1997 and 2005.

Don't know, the person who took the photo and posted it to twitter then deleted it. However, according to flightradar the aircraft (LZ-ABJ) is at Birmingham.

Regarding everything being attached to the car/transported in crates - cars ordinarily would be broken down before being transported in crates but this is a brand new car that has only just been assembled for the first time at the factory and is due to be unveiled tomorrow. There probably isn't enough time break it down, transport it and rebuild at the circuit.

Dint in the McLaren documentary they shipped a car to testing all together just like the above photo.

I would assume its due to having one fully made car ready to test. Not wanting to waste time taking it apart and starting again.

They don't have to containerise the car if they've chartered the plane just for their own use.

Makes sense. In the documentary also looked like Redbull had a car going on the plane. As truck was next to it.

Also looks like LZ-ABJ flew from Coventry a couple times. So I guess thats the airport in the photo

Old enough then. Aircraft are generally retired by the time they are 30 odd years old - although some can soldier on for longer.

McLaren are at Navarra in Northern Spain.

I think the airport in the photo is likely to be Vitoria Airport, which is not at all far from the circuit.

I do find it very impressive how an engine, hybrid system, gearbox, radiators, fuel tank and all associated gubbins are all packaged in that space behind the driver.

How is that "halo" going to stop a front wheel landing on top of the drivers helmet?

At lowish car speeds, the helmet will deal with the impact; at high enough speeds that the helmet can't cope, the wheel will be traveling more horizontally than vertically relative to the car.

That logic is a bit like refusing to wear a condom when sleeping with a hooker because it won't protect you if she stabs you....

It'd need to be a pretty bullseye shot - and the halo can guard against other eventualities.

You can't dismiss it just because it doesn't guard against all eventualities.

Is the Halo a standard item that all teams have to integrate into the car in the best possible way, or is the Halo a different design for each team?
