Such a grounded speech and reminder of his humility.

Chapeau Lewis. Chapeau.

Now let's kill the rest of the season

He’s an Elite sportsman at the top of his game and he’s a Brit.

We should be celebrating and proud of him.

I think there is still more to come from him.
Yep, this year he just seems to be on another planet, if it continues into next year he will walk the championship.
Mercedes really produced one hell of car, didn't they ?

For the fourth year in a row, on another planet compared to the rest of the field, just incredible.

Hamilton is a deserved four time world champion.

Those saying it was the car, some facts:

- Hamilton has a won at least one race every year he's been in F1.
- Hamilton has a win rate or 30.24 %, highest in modern F1 (6th highest in history)
- he's won every championship he's entered, I think.

And finally, it could easily be 6 world championships (last year, but for some reliability, and 2007 too). And possibly 2012 too (which would be 7).

It could also be 3, if Brazil 2008 hadn't gone his way.

But anyway, I rate hamilton better than schumacher and vettel and on par with alonso.

As a kid of the 90's i'm a huge Schumacher fan, I think Hamilton is the most complete driver in modern F1.

Better even than Michael. Imagine Lewis with a no2 lapdog for 10 years.

I hope that Hamilton goes on to beat Schumacher's records. I think the achievement would be greater. He's had 3 x world champion team mates and rarely had an 'assigned' number 2 driver. Contrast to Vettel, who has contractual control over his team mate and reportedly veto'ed hamilton as a team mate.

Hamilton's little dig at Rosberg in the press conference shows how much Nico had gotten under his skin in 2016. I think Hamilton learned a lot from Rosberg, he built it into this year and is an even better competitor as a result.

And how many would Schumacher have without going to ferrari and have a team mate jump out of the way for him at every opportunity?

Reality is he didn't really have any competition this year.

Bottas first year in a new car, at a new team, at a top team. Ferrari and RedBull/Renault messing up in so many ways.

It would've been quite a performance if Louis didn't win it this year.

The Merc. these past 4 years had an unprecedented power advantage due to the new engine regs like we haven't seen before in F1.

And this is the 4th year in a row.

Hamilton is a good driver but had only one competitor these past 4 years; Rosberg.

Is it just me or did Vettel take perfect advantage of the opportunity to puncture Lewis tyre when the opportunity presented itself...
Maybe I am just too cynical but I raised a glass of bubbly with folk from Mercedes F1 tonight and toasted the finest racer in modern history. Long may his success continue.
Well done Lewis Hamilton!

To be a great in F1, you have to have a cool name or a cool persona.

For example, Prost was better than Senna, but Senna looked and sounded cooler. Lauda had a lousy win rate, but he sounds cool and looks cool with his battle scars.

Lewis is not a very manly name and his behaviour is a bit too childlike to make him a true great.

Lewis is his first name. Surely you’d compare the name Hamilton which works quite nicely?
