Teddy asked if it was weird that a company such as Rokit has no online/social presence.
You said that you knew companies that don't. I assumed you were talking about companies similar to Rokit, otherwise - what was your point? And how did it relate to Teddy's?
The question was "What's the biggest company you can find with no wiki entry?"You said that you knew companies that don't. I assumed you were talking about companies similar to Rokit, otherwise - what was your point? And how did it relate to Teddy's?
My answer was "I know some companies with multi billions $ profits who are completely unknown to most people and have zero online presence. Most of the seriously wealthy dont want anyone to know anything about them."
It's not my fault you messed that all up in your head to mean what you typed.

Yeah, but that's bullst when you offer $10m to be painted on the side of an F1 car. Rokit is one of those paint it bigger than it is jobs who have done a few shady deals with 3rd and 2nd world countries to flog a load of tat and for whatever reason hoped the cachet of F1 would give them opportunity to make more than they spent on the deal. Not much different to Storey and co. Pretending they're elusive people making a fortune who support their low key activities by sponsoring a high profile F1 team, isn't cricket.

Sorry guys - a lack of actual F1 to argue about has indeed turned me in to a pendant..

It's cool, I'm actually ashamed at myself for bothering to comment. And to teddy's post above, yes it was a broad question posed.

you're anything but the pedant - you interpreted the question as it was intended, in light of the preceding comments, rather than focussing on the precise wording. We do need more of this, it's a discussion forum, not wikipedia.Sorry guys - a lack of actual F1 to argue about has indeed turned me in to a pendant..

Jeez, you dont go to wikipedia for facts or precision do you?jsf said:
No, they are companies you simply dont know anything about that are not listed as they are 100% privately owned. Plenty of them out there.
Those that are seeking brand recognition are different, but you didn't differentiate that when you made your comment about not having a wiki page.
Simple nonsense. Care to name one and I suspect many people have heard about them? Those that are seeking brand recognition are different, but you didn't differentiate that when you made your comment about not having a wiki page.

Come on.

Would have been very different if they would have approved newey a share in the team. Thet was a terrible decision that they have spent 20 years reflecting on.
No.... The problem is that they don't reflect on such decisions. That is sadly the story of Williams - they've been belligerent throughout. Doesn't really work in the modern world.SpudLink said:

Just being helpful.
I've heard of a few of them but also to the list of unknown companies sponsoring F1 cars list I'd add crown favourite Pastor Maldonado's patrons - PDVSA. They were the Venezuelan government dept responsible for proving crude oil & gas to petrochemical companies to turn into whatever.https://finance.yahoo.com/amphtml/news/25-biggest-...

F1 is a big washing through which a lot of money goes.
I watched the F1 show on Sky last night with Clare Williams going on and on about how committed the Williams family are to the team and the business, if true and the interweb estimates of their net worth, surely the Williams family should be putting their own hands in their pockets, unless of course if maybe they are not quite as confident in their business plan as she says..

They are not paying a share dividend, so they're only taking their wages.
What else could they do? Not really optional when there's no profit to go into the shareholders fund = nothing for dividend. The only vaguely interesting news this week is that Williams latest accounts show they have taken on a very high interest commercial loan package in order to see out 2020. Which isn't exactly helpful as a going concern.
