Only low quality images from the stream so far.
Looking good.

I thought the Mercedes packaging looked tight, that’s super slimline.

A wheel landing with force coming from directly above is a very unlikely scenario as the target car is also going to need to be stationary. Even then the halo probably would deflect some of the force.
It happened to John Surtees' grandson though. Killed him outright.

I always thought the Halo was to prevent that type of accident, a flying wheel or car (like when Alonso was nearly decapitated at Hockenheim) coming over the driver. If it's not going to stop the tyres hitting the helmet - and, also, its the human neck which is the weak spot not the helmet - then there's seriously no point in having it.

I think the question is basically that it won't stop a wheel dropping vertically downwards. However, other directions are available, and in those it could conceivably do good.

An all red Ferrari, very pretty. The car looks longer...which comes with packaging benefits.

Seems Merc have stuck to their guns with last year's aero concept.

in the vertical plane the rear engine/gearbox cover on the Ferrari seems to be so much lower than the Merc.

anyone shed any light on those air through winglet mirrors on the Ferrari?

That package is tight. Also in agreement, but as a slightly bias Ferrari fan, that is a good looking car biggrin

The Surtees incident had the wheel coming into the cockpit area virtually from the front at an angle, not dropping vertically straight down.

I just can’t see something dropping straight down vertically into the cockpit, it’s coming in at an angle. The speed and forward motion of the impact car would make it nearly impossible to land inside the top of the hoop from straight down.

Not to detract from the thread, but Henry Surtees was John's son, not his grandson.
Henry was born when John was 57, one of three kids John had with his second wife along with Leonora and Edwina.

You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter (or in this case, paint)

I still it just me or does it look much redder than in previous years?

Have they taken white out of the livery or something?

Looks much better, reminds me of the 2007-09 era.

I was worries when I saw Merc's package, i'm a firm believer of 'if it looks right, it is right' and the Merc looks great.

As a big Ferrari fan, I'm happy to see that this is a looker too.

It made it better and certain circuits (Monaco, Hungary) but overall the Merc had the upperhand with the longer wheelbase. If you can't beat em'...
