The Official F1 2021 silly season *contains speculation*
Discussion
With the sprint races, amus published a decent Bernie Ecclestone idea yesterday, give points for the sprint race (that sets the grid for Sunday), if you take the points say 15 for first, 14 for second etc, you move back on the grid by that amount of positions, you could of course keep pole ( or 5th) and not take the points.. would have probably worked better in the refuelling era, but might help with the mixed up grid and approach to this mini race.
Does actually sound like a good way to mix things up - the problem with that sort of thing is it is either too simplistic and easy for the strategists to game, or you end up with the viewers being unable to fathom who is doing well ("And Verstappen is in the lead! However, as he finished the Sprint in 3rd and elected to take the points, but didn't take superpole, and has just done the fastest lap while wearing one glove, with 50kgs of success ballast and on the option tyres that means [long pause, whirring noises] he is actually third on points"

Oh for the Dutch GP of 1961!
Hear hear!(Although I'm pretty sure 95% of the people who read that had no idea what it meant without having to look it up.)
Guanyu Zhou has won the Asian f3 championship. Does he have superlicence points for if/when Alonso explodes?
Shame sky F1 can't devote time to F1 hopefuls campaining a single seat formula held at UK tv friendly times for live transmission during a time the fans are all starved of racing and climbing the walls but I guess its essential that those repeated old press conferences and practice sessions be aired.

We already have F2/F3 on Sky and so few on here seem to ever bother watching it sadly.Shame sky F1 can't devote time to F1 hopefuls campaining a single seat formula held at UK tv friendly times for live transmission during a time the fans are all starved of racing and climbing the walls but I guess its essential that those repeated old press conferences and practice sessions be aired.
As for Alonso flipping out... When Cyril was politely told his services were no longer required, I remember thinking at the time that it's never a great sign about how confident a team are over their new season challenger when the boss gets booted in the off season. If that's the case, I expect Alonso will have said something terrible about the car by the end of pre-season testing... He's going to be judged as a returning, mature driver and I can't believe he of all people will keep his trap shut if he feels the car is going to be making him look bad upon his return to F1. I really doubt the car will be able to worry Aston or McLaren, which is bound to be a frustrating situation for Fred - especially if McLaren are substantially ahead.
I've never warmed to Alonso really but his re-introduction in the already tightly contested midfield this season is certainly going to be interesting

He had talking the car down covered last year when he was publically saying the team need to put all focus on the 22 car... As for Alonso flipping out... It'll be funny if they end up pushing the 21 regs back again and Alonso is 42 before they get their "new" car. He will be vying with Mansell for oldest podium finisher.vaud said:

I do think that even that would be overlooked if he had delivered a truly awesome midfield challenger for this season - which is kinda why I expect he hasn't, because he has been booted.
In fairness to Cyril, I think the Renault F1 project was a bit lacklustre in terms of funding, especially with regard to PU development. Its certainly not all his fault, but he has to go - for the same reasons they've rebranded.

What on earth are you talking about. ![laugh](/inc/images/laugh.gif)
Hence, I suspect they don't have very much for 21'. If you disagree and you have time to spare between laughing at others opinions, I'd love you to contribute your own
