I had a lot of problems with my equipment. Using the buttons not the touch pad I immediately scored a 0.238.
I know it sounds like excuses. But I think hovering over the touch screen slows me down a little as opposed to having some resistance to lean against..... could be an even worse excuse than my tyres going off though....?CoolHands said:
Why hasn't one of the teams got a camera that looks at the lights, when they go out relays a beep to the drivers ear. Their brain would react quicker to the beep than the sight.
The drivers should shut their eyes to focus on the audible cue though in Kvyat's case he should be reminded to open them before T1 next time!skeggysteve said:
00.214 on my second attempt, and I'm no F1 driver.I guess we shouldn't forget that the 0.2 reaction time is what the authorities have said happened. There are several clips and gifs doing the rounds that show the front of Bottas's car rising while the lights are still on.
I wouldn't rule out the possibility of those being doctored though.
Anyway, it's done, decision taken.

I think Lewis will win it this year. The loose headrest cost him good points last race and the gearbox change probably cost him the win this weekend. If luck evens itself out, Lewis should win it. I thought the same last year though.
Bottas is only 15pts behind and has had a dnf. Hungrymc said:

As explained on a previous page, when I am drag racing, you react before the lights go out....technically my car is moving on the last yellow before the green light comes on. Because of the circumference of the tyre, the car won't break the beams until about 0.04 seconds after the green. If you wait for the green then you're too late! It will be the same in f1...I wouldn't rule out the possibility of those being doctored though.

don't they change the delay each time in F1 so in theory you have to wait or risk a jump start?
is drag racing the same or is the time the same everytime so you can judge it perfectly (which I guess is important to get the best time in drag racing - less of an issue in F1 where ensuring it is all down to reaction is more important).

It used to be the same but now the top yellow can vary by a few hundreds...suprising how much it can throw you off.is drag racing the same or is the time the same everytime so you can judge it perfectly (which I guess is important to get the best time in drag racing - less of an issue in F1 where ensuring it is all down to reaction is more important).
Bottas got real lucky with his start. My point is though while he is moving before the reds go out, he didn't jump the start because like in drag racing your wheels can be rolling before the green and still not jump.
