That is a seriously impressive conspiracy theory. hehe

How, historically, have drivers fared when you've put an experienced legend against an up-and-comer? Alonso/Ham doesn't really count because Alonso was still fairly new. Schumacher getting trounced by Nico? As much as I like Button, I'd love to see Alonso vs Vandoorne in the same car, or Verstappen vs Hamilton.
I don't understand why everyone thinks Button should get the chop but automatically assumes Alonso should stay? They appear quite evenly matched. Why not sack them both and replace with Vandoorne & Pascal Wehrlein on about 10% of the salary. Or perhaps Nico loses the championship again effectively and swaps seats with Alonso at Mclaren...

As for Rosberg becoming a WDC - I feel if Button and Jacques Villeneuve are worthy champions then Rosberg would be too.

? Didn't Alonso already have both his wdc's at that point? He wasn't old,but he had a few miles of F1 behind him.

Yeah I was thinking in terms of age- there's only 3 years between them. I'm not suggesting it wasn't brilliantly entertaining watching double WDC Alonso's struggle with the super-talented Lewis.

Edited highlights plus one of the dullest tracks made for a very 'grey' race. Maybe the adverts are there to make you better appreciate the live coverage. Hamilton's mojo seems to be long gone anyway.

Totally agree. Re his driving for his seat. And he had that car under control. Vettel was simply whinging - embarrassed that he spotted the move so late.

Hamilton had a poor race. For a guy who can drive the wheels off anything, he failed to throw it up the inside of Massa at a time when doing so would have put daylight between him and Ricciardo and later on,Kimi. Massa showed how one can defend on old tyres, perhaps Lewis needs to ask him for advice?

The chassis on that Red Bull is superb. I don't buy the fact that Ilien has magically found tons of power from the engine, I just think that the Red Bull just works so well as an aerodynamic concept. I am sure there are elements built into that car that we will learn about in the fullness of time. The rake on the car is extreme!

I begged my brother not to say anything about the race, but kept talking and finally said "O.K, I'll just say this, it's a good result for the championship and the rest of the drivers".

fker, I couldn't stop thinking something was going to happen to Rosberg to make him retire as that would be the best result for the championship!. Seemingly, he believed it was a good result for the championship because Hamilton did badly, not realising Rosberg is now 36 points ahead!

I did wonder if it had lost something in the edit. The most interesting parts for me are often the little battles further down the field, I guess they are the first to hit the cutting room floor in favour of the big names. You certainly lost the flow of the battles closer to the front, but I guess that is inherent in all edited highlights.

I had the same issue with Seb when he was winning everything too!

Well that was an interesting race. Rather a lot of scrapping all the way through the field.. A pity Lewis went for the world record number of pitstops in one race, he might have actually been on the podium.

I can see what Seb was upset about but there was room, just.... Kvyat didn't hit him. Had Kimi not got his turn wrong and been diving back that way none of it would have happened. But that's racing.....

Kvyat's field is clearly barren....

Fingers crossed Lewis has some decent luck soon.

The safety car meant two of the tyre changes cost him nothing and also allowed him to recover from his accident. He has said himself that he could have done better.

He was unlucky yesterday but not today.

Lewis wasn't unlucky today? Did I watch a different race?

I struggle to see how Hamilton was any more unlucky than Grosjean, Ricciardo or Raikkonen.

I thought when he tucked his front wing under his car it gave him a distinct advantage over everybody else.

The pit stops really made no difference as they were behind the safety car, I personally think that Hamilton will win this championship because of the enormous amount of luck he's having even when he's having a bad day at the office the safety cars have saved him in two of the last three races & then lucked in with no damage with the Bottas crash, so far from Hamilton unlucky I think he's been very lucky.

Ha ha, did anyone just see Herbert's comments? After the Alonso interview Herbert was asked if he had driven with broken ribs, to which he said no. Then quickly added he had driven with a broken toe and thus knows you feel nothing because of the adrenaline. So basically he doesn't know but was still pushing that he was able to comment on Alonso being a wimp IMO.
I guess you don't know Johnny drove all his F1 career with feet that were smashed to pieces in an F3000 race at Brands Hatch. It is a miracle he can walk, never mind have had a successful GP career. He sure knows what it's like to drive with pain, more so than probably anyone else in that pit lane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvWawLBTh6U

There may be an element of this. He's not a machine like schuey was, plus he's achieved so much. I googled f1 most wins and Hamilton was third on the list, how did that happen, it only seems 5 minutes since he started, either that or I'm getting old.

it's 3 of 21, lewis has taken the last 2 years by a big old margin, despite regular solid drives from rosberg, so the smart moneys got to be on him.
2015: yes
but dont forget that in 2014 Hamilton retired during the Aus GP, had a run of 4 wins to rosberg's second place to get back to being ahead before a 2 second places 2x DNF and 2z 3rd places dropped Ham 29 points behind Rosberg. It was only in the tail end of the season when rosberg had a DNF and ham had a run of wins that got him to the top of the championship (plus the double points for the last race with Rosberg finishing 14th makes it look like Hamilton had a dominant season) but for 11 of 19 races Rosberg was leading the championship.
