When the Chinese race was on he was at silverstone, as a guest of Porsche for the WEC race

And there's already a degree of Red Bull involvement at Porsche, regs are certainly more free reign than F1.

Personally I think an offer from Ferrari has been made but don't think he'll go.
Co-incidence that Webber went to Porsche?

Everyone is forgetting James Allison has just been picked up byj Ferrari and is seen by many as the next Newey!

Doesn't Newey have some tie up with Horner also?

If he leaves I reckons the team will disappear from F1/go up for sale. Why else would he leave to go elsewhere? I don't buy the building a new team from scratch and if it's true it's a bad idea.

Ferrari had the rules changed so it was no longer an aero formula after he did not sign for them before .. so why would he go work for them now.

All depends how far he can see into his future doesn't it?

And maybe is that specific to Redbull F1 or other Redbull sporting connections?

Everyone wants to have worked for Ferrari at some time.

I'd not rule a move out, but the question is "when?".

Vettel didn't seem that keen to bull him up when asked about it.

OK, so what is Red Bull planning to do next? Carry on in F1 as they are or sponsor a Ferrari LMP1 project. Can you imagine the budget that tie up would produce?

Am I reading too much into this but the statement, brief, said Red Bull. I mean, it is not as if Red Bull has any other interests than F1.

Would it have been clearer to have said: I will stay in F1 with Red Bull for the forseeable?

Maybe what he actually meant was, he will join a Ferrari, build them a st car, and feed all their secrets back to Red Bull smile

Well whatever way you look at it, the price of his stock is on the rise. I wonder what Red Bull offered for him to stay, and Ferrari for him to leave!

The rumour is a 20m offer from Ferrari. What if Bernie gets locked up, Horner takes over the running of F1's commercial rights ( as is also rumoured) and then Newey is left to either run the team, or clear off somewhere else. Not sure he'd want to go to Italy, far too much bullshyte connected with Ferrari. We'll all have to wait and see.

I suppose Ferrari having (part of) their operations in the UK is totally out of the question?

They could open a technical office in Guildford, perhaps.

In reality I doubt it'd work. It would certainly bring a load of challenges.

True, but, they are not exactly doing well at the moment are they?

I can see him going. Ferrari are desperate, if they bend to his demands of total technical freedom, he could very well go.

Look at it from his perspective:
1) Total technical freedom
2) Massive pay cheque
3) Returns Ferrari to winning ways

It would take a strong man to turn it down, on the condition they offer him the freedom he will want.
Wasn't one of his concerns moving his family over to Italy? I can understand that.

I would imagine his family being the thing that stops him.

The question is money. Or more to the point...has Ainslie persuaded Dieter to front up the dosh for a GBR Americas Cup run on an AN sabattical? The competition right now is Alonso v Ainslie as they are the two trump cards. To be fair Ferrari and the Americas Cup are both equal draws. Id never bet against Ainslie though...
As I said a month ago. Its been a fairly open secret about Ainslie woo'ing Newey about an Americas Cup job for a few months. The only question was Dieter fronting the cash. That has been Ainslies mission literally since the day after the last race.
