Rumours circulating that we might see the race on Saturday afternoon due to the weather.
Its not only this race that could be affected, teams need to get packed up and go to Russia for next weeks race - if they can't get packed up it could cause problems for that race too.
well if they cant get to Russia, no problem...they don't really deserve the race anyway!...besides no doubt if they did go, straight after they would invade Ukraine again...funny how they waited until the day after the Olympics to start invading...Its not only this race that could be affected, teams need to get packed up and go to Russia for next weeks race - if they can't get packed up it could cause problems for that race too.
These kinds if typhoons come through the area often. I was in Jp last year when one came through and by the time it hit land it dissipated in strength and steered away from land.
Also a few years ago we had qualifying delayed to Sunday morning so I trust the organisers to work around it and find a time to run the race.

Adam Cooper says that running the race a bit earlier on Sunday has been discussed.

James Roberts @JRobertsF1
Japanese GP prediction: Race starts behind Safety Car in terrible conditions. Six laps completed. Red-flag. Half-points awarded. On to Sochi
Will Buxton @willbuxton 14m14 minutes ago
@JRobertsF1 I thought that. But apparently if no racing laps are completed it’s not a race and no points will be awarded.
I supect they will make sure that doesn't happen, one way or another.
Japan never disappoints does it ?

I reckon the weekend is going to be rained off like no other.
The predictions for sunday are 3 - 8 inches of rain! Forget standing water, that's flooding levels. Come Monday possibly 150mph winds. I mean, s0d trying to run a race, the teams need to think about staying alive and run for another country!

Just read reports that Alonso has signed to McLaren next year. Apparently (F1Technical) he has been seen at Honda.
This news combined with the rumours of Ron's demise almost make sense. I can't see Alonso and Ron together again, and the Bahrainis allegedly expected Ron to get big money in this year. And apparently he hasn't.
It's seems to be all rumour and title-tatle at the moment, nothing confirmed.
EJ on BBC recently said that he thought it possible Alonso AND Vettel could end up at McLaren next year.

If even half of the drive line up materialises then wow - never would have expected that! This news combined with the rumours of Ron's demise almost make sense. Give them all a set of mud and snow tyres, tell 'em to man up and get out there.
If the storm hits just give the drivers the choice of an Evo or Impreza with wet weather tyres and let them get on with it!Like the road car alternative though if the F1 cars are unsuitable. Maybe a fleet of SLRs from the safety car supplier?
Interesting times at Red Bull, apparently Kenny Handkammer, Vettel's chief engineer has left the team with immediate effect. He is apparently in Suzuka but not at the track.
