If your life is such that something as minor as that which affects the OP then they must have a rather splendid existence. Otoh perhaps their life is so crap that something as minor as hearing a result early upsets them.

OP I very often manage to avoid GP results for several days before getting to watch them. My record is just over 3 weeks and 2 races worth of results.

Switch off the radio!

Good point. I'm going to take Thi approach and for any future trip to the cinema I will just go for the last few minutes to avoid the pointless build up.

Sorry OP but I have to agree, you have caused your own problem here.

I've done the same, years ago, and now I don't have the problem as people know I want to watch the race and not to tell me the result. For example, this sunday I was at a drift day. My friend stacked the car so we had to come home early - I didn't look at my phone (facebook, news etc), I turned the radio off. Guess what? I didn't hear the result.

I watched the highlights and enjoyed it thoroughly smile

I avoid the news on the TV and online when I'm waiting for highlights.

When I forget and see or hear the results, I just call myself a knob for forgetting. No point blaming anyone else!

Happens to me constantly.

Not bothered as I don't expect the world to revolve around my requirements

Still don't get why the BBC should be grateful to the OP?

I had this on Sunday

Dad: "Did you watch the formula one?"
Me: "No, it wasn't on live TV so I'll watch the highlights later"
Dad: "Oh right."

brief pause

Dad: "Was a great result for Hamilton!"

And you didn't think to add "so dont tell me the result!" just in case y'know, he isn't intimate with your every move and need?

Still have no idea what happened in Bahrain.

It's easy if you try.

Winds me up no end. My phone doesn't ping with football or cricket results (even though it things I follow said sports), but will happily ping up saying "Vettel wins in Bahrain!!!"

One evening after a few beers I remember asking my friends to avoid any F1 mention - nobody mentioned anything at all and after the raced finished (c.22:30) my phone pinged with the race result. I drunkenly threw my phone at the wall, it smashed, and the next morning I went to the manufacturer to get a replacement.

Thankfully the rep was an F1 fan and wrote my phone off as a manufacturers' error. Nothing to pay on my end. Very nice of him.

I'm visiting family on the weekend of the Russian GP and they have previous form for spoiling the F1 results as they see it on the news, don't understand cars or racing, and thinks explaining who finished first is akin to explaining a football league table to me. I'm not too fussed about getting the qualy spoiled for me but I suspect I'll be heading off rather sharp on Sunday so I can get back in time to watch the race live. Sadly that means I'll be leaving at 8am. Bah.

Brilliant win for Vettel, Hamilton took a good 2nd after a fluff on the safety car and Botas finished a solid 3rd.

Sorted to remove quote.

The General Motorsport forum has a sticky called "Do not spoil things for others". I would suggest it applies to the F1 forum as well.

Indeed, it was specifically put there way back in 2006 to stop people announcing results of Grand Prix back in the time when F1 didn't have its own "special" forum.

Great, the quarterly rant at people discussing sporting events after they have happened. People should really know sports events are not up for discussion until 12 years have passed.

A couple of options for the OP

1. Attend anger classes, some unnecessary name calling going on from the OP, will also have the benefit of postponing that impending heart attack
2. Work harder so they can afford sky and watch the race live
3. Work harder so try don't need to have a flat mate

Or 3 which is the more obvious one, don't watch the news and stay away from OBVIOUS sources of news / spoilers for a few hours! Not rocket science
