another legacy HD pack subscriber, £10 for HD channels includes sky sports F1 HD so no change here
same.I expect Liberty will launch their own highlights streaming channel as the FTA deals come to the end of life around the world. It's pretty clear they understand the new media channels much better than Bernie did and want to maximise that.
I'm sure Liberty could persuade Sky to give that up, for a suitably large reduction in fees....

Me too. I quite enjoy it but not enough to pay on top of the licence fee. I wouldn't miss it, there's always something else to do.
It might be my age, but I found the excitement dropping over the last season. It's the first one where I didn't watch all the live races that I could. I only paid for five or six on Now! Very unusual for me. I've been following closed wheel racing more than I have in the past and clicking onto Dailysportscar.com a lot, which seems to be produced by fans. Some lovely images as well.I've watched highlights of course. If, as seems possible, there will be no highlights on FTA then I might well move entirely to closed wheel racing. It's motor racing after all, and has a longer history.
I was something of a nerd for years. My first race was Brands in 66 and I never missed a live broadcast for years.
My main sport is rugby and that takes up a lot of my time as I video matches for my club and edit the footage. I will be sorry if I fall out of love with F1, but I reckon I'll still enjoy motor sport just as much.

It's been reported that any srteaming service Liberty launch won't be available in the UK - claimed that Sky's grants them exclusive streaming rights here.

After all it appears that they will be using the Sky UK commentators.

I don't have Sky. It will cost me even less to no longer watch F1. That's got to be good for the sport, right?
Absolutely OP - why would I want to pay Sky to watch a sh*tfest like we had last year?If it isn't FTV it isn't worth watching!
That will surely enhance viewing numbers!?
Good luck to the new owners in spreading the appeal of the sport! wkers!
I've watched F1 since the 80's and most recently had it for free as part of a legacy Sky HD package. Sky then removed it during a renegotiation on price despite my explicit instructions to the contrary so I found myself without access to all the live races last year for the first time in literally decades. Sky charges these days are ridiculous and I have no interest in subsidising the crazy amount they bid for football so I simply missed the live races and watched whatever Channel 4 broadcase. The sad thing was that I found that I didn't really care. I did pay a one off on Now TV for a couple of the races but didn't feel the need to fill all the live gaps that way.
Unless Sky dramatically drops the price for the next season and allows me to purchase it without 25 other sports channels I'm not interested in then I won't be watching much next year either. I'd like to see the races on Amazon or Netflix as I'm slowly migrating all of my viewing to those platforms anyway and then I can drop Sky altogether.

Sky split up their sports channels last year, so you don’t have to get the whole Sky Sports pack to get F1 any more. You can get the F1 channel separately (on top of the standard Sky subscription, of course), but it will cost £18 for a single channel.I may begin to wean myself off it this season. Hard to do as I've watched it for over 20 years.
I will not pay Sky for it and if I can't see it for free, then so be it.
To be fair, the last few years have seen a decline in my interest in the sport. I've found myself excitedly starting to watch it on C4 catch-up (no TV licence), but I've soon been forwarding it on and skipping bits.
Will be interesting to see what happens after this year.

There is a stipulation in the deal that the British Grand Prix is shown live on free-to-air, as well as highlights of all other races and qualifying sessions. But so far any stipulations that contract contains as to which channel it will be on, and whether it has significant reach, have not been made public. F1 has so far not responded to BBC Sport's questions on the matter.

I do sometimes wonder how F1 has survived, if the sport goes pay to view only the the audience will shrink, and that will make it much less of a draw for sponsors, as many teams are already having problems getting enough sponsorship to be competative how on earth do the FIA and liberty think they will attract more teams or even keep those they have. TV was a vital tool in putting this sport at the top of global sports but killing the golden goose will only hassen its slip down below other sports that people can watch for free. But then again should anyone be surprised if instant money is prefered by those in charge to a long term future, IMHO

Free to air doesn't necessarily mean non-sky, or even terrestrial broadcast. It could end up on an advert-laiden sky channel only available with a dish or cable. There is a stipulation in the deal that the British Grand Prix is shown live on free-to-air, as well as highlights of all other races and qualifying sessions.
