New rear wing for Red Bull

Closer to the McLaren curve design & no fancy end plates..

Stability it is then.

Presumably not a flexible one, which will shut down the long running argument over a possible protest this weekend.

Looks like the FIA are preparing to use TV evidence on wings flexing. Will be interesting to see how they police it, given that there’s only one penalty specified for breach of the technical regulations during a race.

Is that valid though? I thought scrutineering was a pre race / post race assessment.

Wish theh would put the driver position graphic going across the screen horizontally rather than straight down as you lose alot of viewing screen.

Watching older races made me realise how much of the racing can be seen without that graphic on the side.

That would be an interesting twist to the flexi wing saga.

Just explained that it’s just a calibration exercise this weekend to check the stickers work for France-hence the different stickers on different teams I guess.

With the change to turn 8 we can ignore any like for like lap time comparisons to 2019.

I think the timing of this works perfectly for Red Bull, as explained by PdR just now - they would all be running different rear wing here anyway compared to the 'garage door lashed to the back of the car' which is used at Barcelona, Monaco etc.

Baku requires a much simpler, mid-downforce aero setup due to the mashoooosive front straight. So dont assume that Red Bull have just 'bottled it' and changed their wing design because they were worried about getting caught out by the rules.

they ran 2 wings at Barca ...high down force in FP1 & 2 & then the medium (bendy) for FP3/ quali /race

the image above looks like a (modified) medium down force to me

I love those long camera shots down the big straights - they are really trucking along!

217mph clocked by Charles in 2019 apparently. Thats indycar oval speed!

37 none drs overtakes in 2019 apparently - pretty impressive!

Getting the corner exit speeds with the correct traction is far more important here than the wings.

You need lots of downforce otherwise you’ll lose time in S2 and be in DRS range on the main straight.

Rules or not It’s a brand new wing design with the ‘McLaren’ curve to the outside of the wing.

A flexible wing would allow for far greater slow speed (corner exit) downforce without the subsequent high speed drag deficit.

RB will be missing their flexibull wing!

If the new one is actually less flexible, rather than being a different design for another reason. Do we actually have any sort of confirmation of that?
