"In terms of missing the rivalry, of course [I will]. We started out when we were 13 and we would always talk about being champions and when I joined this team Nico was there -- again which was something we talked about when we were kids. It's definitely going to be very strange and for sure I will be sad not to have him in the team next year."
Bit OT but what is it with F1 drivers and this phrase, nearly all of them do it and often several times in a single interview. I hardly hear anyone in my day to day life using it in the same manner.

Did it start with Schumacher?

I'm a Lewis fan when it comes to his racing abilities... but.. if he doesn't get his way, his ego and immaturity shine through... spoilt child... as are many of the top drivers... he could learn a lesson or two from Jenson, but why should he.. when you have that much money you can pretty much do and say what you want.... hehe
I won't disagree with the first part... but why does JB get held up as a bastion of class!!!!? He publicly shames his own team at almost every radio message and interview; albeit, through subtle snide digs. I like JB. But he's not the pinacle of class by a long shot.

It's true that they all act up; I agree! Hamilton included.

Misquote?? In the very same article that you link to, the same comment appears from Hamilton!

Maybe it is important to read everything..
its taken out of context when read on its own.....you read the whole article without bias and it doesn't sound bad
I read the full article on 2 sites, to make sure they were the same.

Even "in context" it was a weak remark that makes him look like a child. Very disappointed that he couldn't show more class.

*BREAKING NEWS*

Nico has revealed he retired to concentrate on music and release a rap album next year.

When questioned on why, he said 'After beating Hamilton at F1, I wanted another challenge. Knowing Lewis has a passion for music, I want to beat him to the number 1 music chart spot.'
NAH I think hes kicking back behind his laptop watching pistonheads explode....he will announce his return to the sport in the morning with a giant smirk on his face, calling us all wkers :-P
I have it on good authority that he has already recorded a single.

and that NJK44 has already called up the controller of BBC radio to ask them to ban it.

So?

There is life outside of motorsport as well.... stop running away from my dream job ya dhead!!
My point is, if he was a genuinely good driver you'd either try to defend the WDC or move to try to conquer another motorsport. Not live like 70 year old when you're just 31.........

It also sounds to me that 18 years ago when they were juniors they talked about winning the F1 title and Rosberg probably said "when I do I'll retire" or words similar to that, so it comes as no surprise to Lewis he has done that and this is the first time Nico has won the F1 title in the last 18 years.
Really? You remember details of conversations from 18 years ago? Wow.

Man up, guys, it was cheap shot to remind the world that Hamilton is the big cheese.

70 year old?

Bloody hell. rofl

Maybe he's had enough. He has been doing it long enough.

I for one can see why he would retire. He has won the world championship and has a young family.

Indeed, and I have subsequently posted a correction / retraction which it seems you haven't seen.

No, the point is Hamilton didn't even have to mention the bit about it being the first time Rosberg had got the better of him in 18 years.
apart from the fact Hamilton didn't say that.....
The quote doing the rounds seems to be along the lines of "it's the first time he's won in 18 years" and that's followed-up with something to the effect of "it being a shame he won't allow me to fight to take it back". Why did Hamilton even need to mention 18 years in that way and "not being allowed to fight to take it back" smacks of accusing someone of running away and ducking a contest. All pretty unnecessary in my view but you clearly interpret his comments differently so what message do you think he was trying to convey?

Didn't mean it to be a big deal.
