Ricciardo is waiting for something. He is the real deal so many if not all teams would like to have him on board.

The only way I could see him joining Mercedes would be if Lewis left.

Hamilton nor Vettel would want Ricciardo alongside. He is making his way towards being the best driver in F1.

Perhaps Brundle is correct.
Stranger things have happened. Who was it that called out the Vettel to Ferrari rumor first? Eddie J? I forget.
Channel4 have promised us EJ at the next race, so await some more nuggets. biggrin

I can see why many don't like EJ but I have to say I love his crazy antics. He speaks before he thinks in many occasions but this is when he will blurt out a golden nugget of information "whether he is meant too or not"

He seems to still have many contacts so it's all good.

Maybe C4 will just have him in a cage or something biggrin

I never forgave him for saying Massa was 'absolutely fine' after his accident.

He turned out to be critically injured.

Danny Ric is one of my favourite personalities on the grid, but what you've just written is absolute b*llocks.
He's won 6 out of the 132 races he's started - less than 1 win per season since his debut. He isn't anywhere close to "being the best driver in F1."

It’s unlikely Lewis would move anywhere unless he had no1 status in the team. Red Bull is most likely to accommodate that.

Or he could just quit and become a brand in his own right, like Beckham did?

Or move to another formula like GT racing?

I think when he is done with F1, he will be done with racing. Music, charity, business, leveraging him as a "brand"... etc he has talked about these IIRC.

I'd like to see him team up with Alonso in LMP1. They have a great respect for each other and being in the same car as team mates would be very different to their experience of being in different cars as team mates. If they could get Button to join them too......

I'd also love to see him driving some old metal at the Goodwood Revival.

I don't agree.

Has he had the best car in F1? No. The Red Bull has not exactly been very good or reliable since the new hybrid era.

If you think he is not the real deal then just remember 2014.

First year in a Red Bull against Vettel who is a 4 time World Champion and he destroyed him in the same car.

Both had three non finishes yet Danny finished 3rd in the Championship a massive 71 points ahead of Vettel.

He is the real deal and will be a Champion in the near future.

He has never asked for No.1 status before.

IMHO there are two things wrong with your hypothesis, firstly Hamilton has never asked for No1 status, and, secondly Red Bull operate a driver academy, Hamilton has never been with them. Ask Mark Webber what happens to non-academy drivers in the team.

I don't think Hamilton will drive for another team. I believe when he leaves Mercedes, which I think will be at the end of the 2020 season, he will retire from racing and pursue other business interests in fashion and music.

I think this may be one of the things that rubs people up the wrong way about Hamilton- I don't see him in any other form of Motorsport once he retires, nor participating in any historic racing. My belief is that he'll continue down the path of being some self-styled status symbol or whatever it is they're described as, basically will continue to emulate Justin Bieber, Kanye West, etc.

He just doesn't seem to be a petrolhead at heart, I'm sure he loves being in the car but I feel that he could shrug off racing at a glance and go record pop music instead. Maybe it's just aspirational thinking but as a mere mortal watching in awe at these drivers' abilities I so desperately believe that our heroes should live, breathe and bleed motor racing, and it's easy to percieve that most of the drivers on the grid do- just not Lewis.

I'm only theorising here rather than trying to slander, and I live to be proven wrong. I would love to see Lewis genuinely excited to drive some madcap wieldy historic like the touring car boys who seem to absolutely adore the experience of Goodwood, it'd be very endearing to see.

Hamilton has driven historic race cars and gotten very giddy over them...

As for what he should do with the rest of his life; is it odd that anyone other than he, cares? I think so.

People mull over all sorts of things. "cares" might be too strong a word. Maybe "curious" as to what a talented person will do next in their lives is not odd?

I wonder what Elon Musk will do release/invest in next... is that odd?

Happy to be educated. I've seen some team PR work involving historics, but then that doesn't really count.

As pointed out above, care isn't the word. I suppose it's a matter of empathy- as a car and motor racing enthusiast, it's endearing to see a driver just as giddy and excited about the above as I would be.
