Yup when he is going through the paddock etc he often stops for kids etc he just seems like a lovely guy.
Glad to hear he still does it. Back in Jan 2009 my 9 year old met him and LH found the time to speak to him, ask him questions about school, sport etc - I was really impressed.

That was winter testing shortly after winning his first title and despite the day having gone quite badly...

Awesome! clap

What a period in F1 that was also.

I think he meant it sarcastically (but there’s no emoji for it, so here we are).

Clarkson. The mouthpiece of a bygone generation. Mildly bitter and somewhat jaded.

Hamilton is the most popular driver in the world. So the article doesn't add up. It's typical Clarkson, made for a certain set to lap up. Works every time wink

You would think that, wouldn't you, given your clear dislike of Hamilton.

What makes you think he's become less popular? His social media following is increasing, his value to sponsors doesn't seem to have fallen either.

Granted, I was very surprised to hear MV get way more applause at COTA than LH...

I'm more of a Clarkson fan than a Hamilton fan, but can't say I agree with him on that one.

Naturally with Clarkson it is impossible to tell whether those are his true opinions, something scripted to sit perfectly with The Sun's audience, or most likely, something somewhere in the middle.

laugh Brilliant - Clarkson says he was "normal" and now he is "woke". And people genuinely think Clarkson is that thick.

The binary thinking is intense on that one.

The word "woke" does upset the easily offended. Good.

There is nothing positive in that article by Clarkson. It is just a series of criticisms without balance and without optimism. That is how you know that Clarkson is now over the hill.

Meanwhile, the average age of an F1 fan is nigh on 30 years younger. I am optimistic that the majority of fans aren't agreeing with Clarkson here.

Not surprised. The frothers don't like him.

This sums up the average F1 or sports fan. They normally support the person doing the winning.

Maybe, but that doesn't explain Norris.

His self-deprecating humour must be popular.

I said Hamilton is the most popular driver in the world. I didn't state 'amongst F1 fans' - or any other particular demographic.

But I think the younger guys will come through, and Lando is great. I'm not sure any of the current crop will ever have the profile LH has outside of the sport. Could be wrong.

Point is: Clarkson is pandering to a certain audience and if we go with Hamilton being the third most popular driver on the grid. That still doesn't sit well with Clarkson's blah.

How are you measuring "the world". Insta peddling ?

Clarkson and Gervais are both old school but remain funnier than most.

Spitting Image and HIGNFY aren't too bad either for old school formats.

New doesn't automatically equate to better.
