Have you considered taping it yourself? F1 is on series link on my Freeview Hummy...
Tbh I might have to go that route, it'll be annoying as it will mean digging out my old Freeview DVR box and cabling up the aerial all because C4 can't/wont sort their st out irked

I'm sure the Beeb's live races were available within about two hours of broadcast last year. You can also pause/rewind the live broadcast stream by up to two hours.
They are actually creating the content as they go (it's streaming and transcoding at the same time).
The software that runs it all is called EVS - Auntie calls it "Tapeless" as it replaced a kid wheeling a trolley of tapes about the place.

There is actually no significant delay between the video feeds being ingested by the system and them being available to air (like you can see with iPlayer live) - the reason why there is a pause between the end of a feed and it being available to view again on iPlayer isn't really a technical one. It could be done if there was demand from those who pay for such things to happen.

It's also annoying when my Panasonic PVR recorded FP1, FP3, Quali, race, highlights, but missed FP2. Not disastrous, but would be if it was quali or the race that was missed (don't have All4 in the lounge).

Mine did the same. I think FP2 was on a different channel due to scheduling conflicts.

I read a post on here somewhere, that Ch4 cannot present the highlight show before a certain time had elapsed from the main show finishing, part of it's contract with SKY.

I liked the Spa coverage, Jones has slipped into the role very well, better than Suzi Perry much more relaxed and at ease with everything.

Lee's been out in Rio covering the Olympics - a deal she signed before C4 got the F1 deal.

I think DC and MW are a great double act. The bounce comments off each other in a very natural manner.

Still not over keen on Jones, but if he can attract younger views, then it is a very small issue.

Together, they make the old farts on SKY seem even older

I didn't like Jones at all when he started, but he is improving. As you say, DC and MW are a great combo. I think MW needs to relax a little as he seems a bit tense, but DC was like that at the start and now he's very laid back.

What is it with Johnny Herbert and ''sortof''..??

In the average sentence there are usually at least three occasions where he uses that term. Very annoying smile

In fairness to my earlier thoughts on him, Steve Jones really has improved, hasn't he? I think the key thing is that his relationships with the faces in the paddock don't seem forced any more.

I think you've got to hand it to him - there was criticism initially but he's learned and improved. Fair play.

Yep he has toned down the "T4" style of presenting and seems at ease which is no mean thing I should imagine dealing with the characters in the paddock.

I'm getting close to dropping Sky F1 and going down the Channel 4 router - not because the qualify of Sky F1 is poor, but mainly because having 3 young kids I find it difficult to watch the race live without being constantly mithered. I prefer early or late start races than the European mid-day starts as they get in the way of doing important family stuff on a Sunday.

I have also been told that using Kodi with an add-on called ZemTV means I could watch Sky F1 live, but I suspect that may be very naughty and I would never condone such a thing.....

Last nights coverage of the Singapore GP has made me question whether to follow f1 anymore. Race starts, Hulkenberg crashes, safety car out, time for a long advert break.. All in the first 2 minutes of race coverage.

Any sense of excitement kill there and then. The rest of the race had a few moments of thrills, but length and frequency of adverts killing it for me.

If it's got adverts in the race, then it's highlights. Just record it and skip 'em, anyway.

I don't have an issue of advertising during a highlights package.

Not as if we're going to miss anything.....
