Thought I'd try that this race, but my five live radio is about 10-20 secs behind the tv, which is a bit irritating (maybe less irritating that that tt Croft mind you).

The fix for that, is to pause the TV for as long as it takes to get them in sync.

I do agree with there being no benefit but this is the most argumentative sport in the world. That's your grid box, penalty if you're outside it seems the most sensible thing.

There doesn't need to be a perceived benefit - if he's out of position at all, it's a penalty, full stop. It's for the same reason that if a driver goes off track during qualifying, their lap time is always deleted. By removing the judgement call about perceived benefits, it removes any risk of the stewards being accused of bias.
