Congratulations to all the UK designers, engineers and component manufacturers.
Shame the British flag won't be shown on the podium.
Indeed and quite insulting to the people that work for the team. One reason I don't like RedBull.

Been a better season if Seb and Mark had swapped cars, Also it was a traversty that the Tyres were changed due to Red Bull pressure.
Robbed Kimi or Alonso of the championship.
Regarding the race all of Sebs drive back was just a straight forward Drs Pass, Whats wrong with the DRS on the mercs.
Every time they go to a circuit with long straights they get jumped, Massa was still pulling away from Hamilton even with Lewis DRS.

1 / Tyres were changed, and then changed back as F1 collectively shot themselves on the foot in allowing testing, I blame F1 for that cock up - Red Bull maximised the situation.
2 / Possibly, but they weren't robbed. "What ifs" mean nothing. There's no saying that they would have made use of the tyres.
3 / He passed cleanly and decisively using DRS, as were most overtakes.
4 / I think the Mercs run out of gearing - short geared for some reason, strategy error?

Whilst it's easy to be flippant, Christian Horner has said that it concerns him people don't consider Red Bull a British team. Had the team principal not made that comment my observation would have less significance.

I was being sarcastic, trying to highlight the idiocy and jingoistic nature of the previous comments.

I'm sure the intelligent people at Red Bull are not remotely worried by the colour of the tea-towels when they're hanging on the washing line.

Well quite, but if you choose to work for an Austrian company that has chosen to base itself and invest in the UK, it's a burden you choose to carry.

Want to work for a British owned, British staffed team, it's a free market.

Of course - but some recognition of national input would be nice. Austria hasn't even got a current F1 circuit (although that will change next year, of course).

I don't think Eddie Jordan ever tried to promote his team as a a formal Irish team - even though the powers that be tried to on occasion.

Adrian Newey.

Ten constructors' championships for three different teams. A statistic unrivalled by any driver or designer, ever. An achievement unmentioned on the telly.
In only 21 years as well.

I don't dispute Vettel is fast, but does anybody really believe he is the 0.75 of a second he had on the field in qualifying, and knocking on the door of 30 seconds in front during the race, roughly 0.5 seconds per lap.

He has massive at advantage, the likes of which we haven't seen since 1992 or 2004.

But not for the whole season, not by a long shot, so you can't make the comparison.

It's a big gap, no doubt. Quite understandable how some may feel there's something about that car that no one else has. There was talk of some telling footage from heat showing cameras that the front edge of the tea tray was getting really hot and that there was some form of movement as it got hotter, but reverting to normal when it got cooler, like in the scrutineering bay...

Begs the question though that if indeed they have this as yet uncopied performance enhancing design and it's on both cars, why is Webber nowhere near him most of the time?

Perhaps young Seb really is that much better than his team mate. Or they have different cars.

You are correct. Red Bull choose to base the team in the UK and give UK people jobs (obviously there will be other non UK personel working there too though)so i'm sure thats enough for them not to worry about having a british flag flying for the team.

I've always struggled with the 'world championship' as a concept in f1 - I like the fact that the uk plays such a significant part albeit with so many sponsors, engines, suppliers, drivers, staff etc from around the world it seems hard to reconcile the waving of a flag and the related nationalistic side. But ultimately it's great entertainment and I end up supporting a driver regardless of nationality or team. Although I did cheer on Hill even though I didn't believe he was the best or even my favourite. Here's to some good racing.

biglaugh All very philanthropic of Mateschitz I'm sure but in fact they bought an existing British F1 team - Stewart/Jaguar.

If they were based in Austria they would not be the successful team they are.

F1 teams really NEED to be in the UK to avail of the talent pool. The only serious exception is Ferrari - and they have had a UK base in the past.

I'm not sure there is a fundamental difference between the cars, I suspect it requires a certain driving style because of the blown diffuser that Mark can't replicate. Patterese had a similar issue in 1992.

It will be interesting to see how Adrian Newey uses the exhaust next year and how Vettel will cope if they can't use exhaust blowing.

Really?

They survive in the game as far as I can tell.
