If he comes second to Lewis in another couple of races he'll get very twitchy. Don't believe for a second that either of them will give away points cheaply. After Lewis's bad start, I think Nico will be smarting a little that Lewis was able to reel him in and then open a gap. But Nico is no mug and he's faster than he gets credit for .... There is a long way to go yet.
But Lewis was what, 3/10ths faster in Quali?

I am wondering if my guess before is correct, and now Lewis does not have to share where he is faster than Nico during quali and setting up.

Agreed. Doesn't LH have to take an engine penalty at some point or did I misremember?

Edit: usage before this weekend : https://twitter.com/SomersF1/status/50757438606110...

Nico and Lewis have used exactly the same so far.

He and Nico were equal heading before Spa: https://twitter.com/SomersF1/status/50241513057628...
Well Lewis has used one more ES but yes, pretty similar. Thanks - hadn't seen that before. Vettel, Sutil, Kimi and Maldonardo all looking at risk for last races.

Just watched the race. They should have that first corner slalom at every track like a joker lap in rallycross.
Great save from Kyvat, made me jump when I saw him appear in the back of the shot at that speed.

It's taken a long time for Hamilton to win over the Tifosi btw.
If you believe that you will believe anything. hehe
To be fair it's not unprecedented, when the fia decided to take a big steaming shirt on one of the most exciting few laps in years as they felt it'd be nicer for the red car to "win" at spa '08, most of the ferrari apologists on forums I posted on at the time said it was a joke. Only a minority of demented nutjobs even tried to regurgitate the official spiel.

Sometimes things are so wrong even the diehards can look past their colours

Made you jump? I reckon he must have s**t himself. But it was a pretty awesome piece of driving to miss everything for certain.

Another stat: Over the last 6 races, both LH & NR have scored 98 points each. This despite Nico starting 3, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2 on the grid and Lewis starting 9, 6, 20, 22, 2, 1 on the grid.
Interesting, if correct.

With my tinfoil hat firmly in place, anyone else reckon Nico overshot the chicane on purpose? And now have done that, back as before. With him still in lead for drivers championship.
Crossed my mind. It's too perfect; avoids a fight on track, smooth's things over with the team, doesn't hurt his title battle too badly.

Mind you, if that proves to be the case, it brings up the validity of his lock up at Monaco. Could be one crafty little bugger on those brakes.
All those above are possibilities and nobody who is not privvy to what has been said and directed behind closed doors can be certain either way.

No matter, great racing to observe for this F1 enthusiast. Disappointed only by McLaren's poorer showing after looking good with one car in second early and both showing some promise in FP and Q.

Delighted by Williams being best of the rest ... by far!
Having seen a further repeat from the front it does appear that Nico briefly locked the rears, there was just a brief puff of smoke of them, so guess he would have released the brakes, and taken to the escape road, so may be it was a mistake.

Wow that was quick!

I wonder if he got the same 'no notice, no pay in lieu of notice' deal that the 40 other guys got.

Albers resigned.

According to Kravitz he was frustrated because money he was promised did not materialise, so he packed it in.

Crofty on sky just raised that point too.
Smart move that. Really smart move.
Crofty is a tt if he raised it, I didn't see the Sky coverage as we were at the race. The whole weekend drivers were doing exactly what Rosberg did at that chicane, GP3, GP2 and F1 it happened time after time in practice, quali and race.
What I would say is what a fantastic atmosphere there was at the track and in Monza after the race, brilliant, brilliant weekend.

I thought it relevant that Jordan raised the point with Wolf. He source was impeccable - Twitter. So that sort of proves it I think.

Yes, Jordan too is a prat.

Did Crofty not raise it as it was a question put to him via #askcrofty on Twitter? Either way plenty of folk seem keen to believe it. I'm not one of them.

We will never know until one of them retires and writes his book.

Until then, its all guesswork.

Crofty didn't raise it. He was responding to the tinfoil hat wearers on Twitter who put the suggestion to him on his Ask Crofty segment. Crofty clearly thought that the suggestion was bks, and basically said as much.

Just back now too, circling M25. First race for me since Silverstone 92. What an event. Thanks to my pal who gifted me two lounge passes for the weekend that were an unwanted prize. He considers cars to be boring. The lounge in question was pitside and we were exactly aligned with Rosbergs car with only the pit exit lane between us! Seeing the various people on the grid pre race as have seen 100s of times on TV but this time for real is something I won't forget anytime soon
