The more I see of Charles LeClerc, the more he reminds me of Prost - drama-free qualifying laps which put him atop the time sheets, level-headed with superb racecraft, and a rather engaging modesty.
His victory today was overdue, which seems a strange thing to say about a driver in only his second season at the top level, and his first in a team with a chance of winning races, and it was a welcome high point in a weekend clouded with tragedy.
A home win for Ferrari at Monza next weekend?
Surely Vettel will be trying to get pole and the race win at Monza. His victory today was overdue, which seems a strange thing to say about a driver in only his second season at the top level, and his first in a team with a chance of winning races, and it was a welcome high point in a weekend clouded with tragedy.

IMO he needs to get it done.
If Leclerc does it again then Vettel's future must be in jeopardy.
The way the circuit is you would expect a 1-2 for Ferrari unless they have a car issue.

Poor race from Verstappen. How many times do we hear that no race is won at the first corner. There's any number that have been lost there though. You can't overtake two cars into La Source. He might have been the car to stir things up a bit, especially if e'd gone long on his first set of tyres.
Easy comment which has two sides. First of all Verstappen didn't overtake two people. Secondly Kimi was too commited after race start to the inside racing line. With the entire pack of cars going through that first corner, expecting a clear inside line there, even squeezing, is naive. He had all the space on his left.
Kimi took himself out as well.

Everyone & his dog were saying Spa was a nailed on 1-2 for Ferrari.Mercedes extended their lead for the WCC, Hamilton extended his lead for the WDC & Bottas extended his lead for WDC P2.

I can't see why anyone would think it was Kimi's fault.Secondly Kimi was too commited after race start to the inside racing line. With the entire pack of cars going through that first corner, expecting a clear inside line there, even squeezing, is naive. He had all the space on his left.

Max could have touched the brakes as he must have known Kimi would take the line and not be able to spot him at that angle.

I didn't agree with that especially on race pace.Mercedes extended their lead for the WCC, Hamilton extended his lead for the WDC & Bottas extended his lead for WDC P2.
One lap yes but as Vettel showed the car was not the best in race trim.
Leclerc did a great job of holding onto the tyres.
But Monza has more straights and fewer corners which will suit the Ferrari even more.
Time will tell but Monza should be even more a Ferrari track.

in the 2nd part of the race....
Given the performance gap between the best 3 teams and the rest.
Just like Gastly he struggled early on to overtake other cars.

That was some moves as well. The Perez incident was pretty funny There is something very likeable about Albon. I hope he can give Verstappen a good fight in the coming races.

He took the same risk in 2016 https://youtu.be/BIzPndVXIaQMax could have touched the brakes as he must have known Kimi would take the line and not be able to spot him at that angle.
I was in the Verstappen stand (due to Dutch girlfriend). Got to say, the Dutch as a group are great. Obvious dismay when Max crashed out, but general consensus it was his fault. While a few left, most stayed, and their behaviour during the minutes silence and lap 19 was impeccable, as you would hope.
I have inhaled an awful lot of orange smoke though...
A lot seem to be closet Hamilton fans as well, without Max to cheer the cheers were mostly for Hamilton and Ocon.
Last couple of laps of the Porsche super cup were very exciting too!

Did norris run out of fuel !
Almost certainly. At least he got driver of the day - for once, Max didn't..
So I watched today whilst on site, building up a motor show stand for the Frankfurt Auto Show. I was watching with around 20 Dutch construction workers - all of whom wanted Max to win!! I couldn't understand the words they were yelling as they slammed their fists down but I suspect it was their version of a vulgar term for a ladies front area.
Luckily CLC was their second choice - essentially anyone other than Lewis would have done I think. The Dutch really are proper and passionate fans, a couple went back to work during the duller periods of the race but kept the live timing on their phone screens, returning when a battle was imminent
We all enjoyed the race very much. Even though I don't think they wanted Lewis to challenge CLC in the closing laps, there was plenty of anticipation when it looked like a charge might be possible in time.. But personally I'm glad CLC took his maiden victory at last, it was well due. Maybe not as great as the races that preceded it, but certainly above average and well worth watching. I could say the same about most of this season tbf - Melbourne and France (urgh..) excluded.
