Dull, dull, dull.

Convenient issues for Webber, incompetent strategies galore, even more conveniently still working RBR car in a different league, post-apocalyptical looking track, 10 minutes of replays around lap 4 so any sense of who is where in the race is completely lost, DRS way too strong for some cars and way too weak for others (gearing I assume).

Hate F1 right now, won't be watching next season if they can't do something about this.
They are doing a lot next year or haven't you heard?

Whether it makes the racing better, we won't know until the season starts.

Leaving Vettel to one side (as it's already been covered about dominant drivers) but this is the first season when I've turned it off mid-race.

Some of the 'passing' is now laughable. As a friend calls it 'Mario Cart F1'. Press a button and glide past. The racing has been filled with gimmicks and trinkets to make the 'show' look appealing.

Raw driving and overtaking has all but been erased from the mix.

So yes. Mojo is lost.

Went and made pizza for lunch to occupy myself for the boring bit in the middle. I've been watching F1 since the 1960s but the enthusiasm is going down fast, my son has stopped watching it now, he says it is boring.
For me there are now too many races in the year, I cannot take that amount of time away from the family.

Now I'm settling down to watch the moto gp and later the American Football from Wembley.

I am 40 at xmas this year, i grew up near snetterton track and spent every spare moment i could at the track as a boy, i love motorsport of all kinds and always looked forward to the F1 but I am afraid it died a little more today. i know Vettel gets a hard time but lets be honest, at least 5 drivers in todays field could have had that car and won the title and thats the problem.
Sad to say i never watch now, the races are controlled so far beyond the driver that the pitwall and the factory win races now IMO. Gone are the days of geting up in the middle of the night for quali etc. Anyone remember when teams would turn up just to try to qualify and if they failed wouldnt even race? 28 and 30 car fields with many different teams, none of this junior team stuff.
I hope the new cars do change things but while people like Bernie and the current structure are invloved I doubt it.
I now live near Oulton and take my son to the Club racing where you can get up close and dont need a pass the size of car bonnet just to get close to even a support truck.

Name one championship where this is not true.

The thing is, the other 5 drivers are not in the red bull and you cant put them in it. Part of a drivers success is the ability to get yourself in the right place at the right time.

Its easy to look back with the rose tints on, i am as guilty as anyone. What would Prost and Senna have achieved without Mclaren?

How many drivers have failed because they didnt get themselves in the right team for whatever reason?

There are multiple IFs. F1 backwards Murray used to say.

my point was that with all the rules and regs there is no opportunity to change and challenge the dominant team, no chance to try something different, christ you cant even test properly any more. i agree it has happened in the past but now is the second time where it has gone on for multiple years. it doesnt look good for getting people to watch the sport or get interested in it.
to be honest maybe i do have an element of rose tinted glasses on, but its for a reason, i used to watch racing, sadly F1 these days is become less of a race every year IMHO.

For me, Vettel is the 'forgotten' champion; even as a four times champion he hardly registers with me for some reason. I don't realy know why, more worrying I don't really care why either. I actually dozed off during todays re-run.

Age?

As us old fogeys get older it's harder to hold 20 somethings in high esteem - even if they are exceptionally talented.

Didn't even realise there was a car gp this weekend, but stayed up to watchtower he motegi moto3, moto 2 and moto gp races. And last weekend for bike racing was amazing, motogp and bsb was proper exciting. I also loved the btcc this back end of the season. But I can't recall the last f1 gp I watched flag to flag.

Quite frankly, it's become boring as fk.

What a stupid question.

If someone regards something as boring. It IS boring.

You clearly feel it is NOT boring.

Both are correct. Both are legitimate.

It is entirely subjective. You can't accuse someone of being wrong.

I think the main thing for me is that I do find it a bit boring, but the frustration comes from knowing that it could be much less boring.

Do away with the need to conserve fuel. Do away with the need to save tyres as much as they have this season. Tilt the balance away from endurance and toward sprinting.

If Bernie thinks there is nothing wrong with the show, it wont get better. So we have to whinge and whinge loudly to make up for the fans who have no apparent imagination for how much better it could be. wink

This was the first year in at least the last 25 years that I haven't watched a single race. Why? After some thought...

Firstly - there is no longer any real racing, everything is contrived by Bernie, all made worse by the ridiculous tyre situation this year.
Secondly - the 'modern' tracks are featureless and characterless, with crowds miles away from the action. They have absolutely nothing memorable, no great corners like the classic tracks that are fast disappearing. Even the fact they have no names, just 'turn 1, turn 2' etc annoys me.
And I think the final nail in the coffin has been not having all the races live (I don't have Sky) and I can't be bothered to avoid all news for the day just to watch highlights of a procession.

Having said that, I'm still interested enough to look out for the results, read this forum, and if come the last race of the season Jenson had been in with a shout of the WDC then I might have come back. Maybe next year, but somehow I doubt it.

Nope, I don't know.

A bit of democracy:

A: Lock this, continue on Bored thread.
B: Merge both threads.
C: Let them both run as is.

First ten votes get acted upon.
D: Start multiple new threads on "the good old days".
