With it looking more and more like Grosjean is bound for Hass could Jolyon be in with a shot at a race seat alongside Maldonado for 2016 assuming Lotus are bought over by Renault and don't go bust?

The worry if Renault buy the team over is that Jolyon isn't French...

Unless I'm missing something, I have to say I'm wondering what Palmer is bringing to F1.

Anyone else wondering if he will be in the Renault for much longer?

Yep, had those thoughts on Sunday while watching the race. I suppose they'll give him a few more races and see how he goes before making any decision.
Doesn't bring some money with him to the team?

They'll keep him in the car for the rest of the season but he'll be a commentator / pundit next year just like Di Resta and that will be the end of his F1 career...

Jolyon will surely make way for Fernando over the winter. If he doesn't secure a seat elsewhere I shan't miss him.

Its not going well for him this year is it... How much do Renault need what Jonathan Palmer is bringing in to the team (not including Jolyon), how good is Sirotkin the reserve driver as a replacement until the end of the year when Alonso is apparently coming?

he is rubbish, he'll be out next year and replaced by Alonso.

I am told Palmer doesn't bring money this year. How true that is I don't know...

Either way, he needn't bother...

He's not bringing money? Good God that's worse than I thought!

I could put up with him being terrible if he was in the least a bit likeable and I could put up with his arsey behaviour if he was genuinely good, but he seems to be the perfect storm of complete prick, slow and terribly bad at driving.

He's that bad I'm convinced I'm missing something completely as an armchair enthusiast, that those in the know must see something in him that we don't.

And I now call him Jocelyn.

Joly-off made me chuckle!

He was a great racer in Gp2, but is out of his depth in F1. Fully expect him to end up with the other rejects in WEC or Formula E.

I would like to say at this point that the Russia crash wasn't Jolyon's fault.

Agree with you. He's no Alonso though.

I'd imagine Palmer was given the seat again this year so Renault could gauge their progress with the new car more accurately. Two new drivers wouldn't have given as clear a picture. I agreed he is unlikely to still be there next year unless he can up his game considerably.

And change his attitude towards the team

He took a long timeto get up to speed in GP2 to be fair; maybe if they give him another 3 or 4 years................
