2015 - Three car teams?

Anyone else hear the rumour during the commentary that Alonso is staying at Ferrari, and will partner Vetel and Raikinonen?
I heard that one too.I don't know who or what to believe at the moment. There's so much bluff, double bluff and straight bullst going on.
I think if there will be three car teams (in whatever form) then the teams who will run them will have known it's coming for a while now. If that is the case then Vettel will be in the third Mercedes next year.

TL;DR the (s)pitpass article is just copied from the Mail, Joe points out that the Concorde is secret - so either its all made up or someone is in breach of contract.
In other words don't pay too much notice.
He has a bit of a pop at the author of the Mail piece here, these two seem to enjoy sniping at each other via their articles: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2014/10/27/the-need...
Tbh, none of the F1 journos seem to like Saward or Johnson of the Telegraph.TL;DR the (s)pitpass article is just copied from the Mail, Joe points out that the Concorde is secret - so either its all made up or someone is in breach of contract.

As for a third car; as it would cost up to an estimated $35m a year to add a car to a big team it isnt going to help, only add to cost problems.
However, selling one or two year old chassis to smaller customer teams...well...

Would it really cost that much? Surely a lot of the cost is R&D etc, and once you have paid it, its just a case of ordering 3 parts instead of 2?onyx39 said:

Does Joe Saward still describe himself as being part of "an influential group of opinion formers" or some such? Interesting as some of his stuff is, that just grated. It's the sort of label others bestow on you, not that you apply to yourself. As for a third car; as it would cost up to an estimated $35m a year to add a car to a big team it isnt going to help, only add to cost problems.

In Moto GP you have a few main manufacturers and a bunch of satellite (customer) teams battling it out behind them (and occasionally getting in the mix).
Say Mercedes/Ferrari/McLaren etc all had satellite teams that shared a chassis and power unit but have to develop everything else themselves throughout the season, aero etc. There could be some sharing of information back and forth, but in essence they are a team in their own right, with their own sponsors, branding etc.
What am i missing here? (probably something glaringly obvious but go easy on me)

Not going to happen, teams don't want it, Bernie doesn't want it.
Besides, in case we all missed it Ted Kravitz said that Marussia will be back in Abu Dhabi - freight & passenger flights booked, arrangements made etc. Chilton & Rossi driving. They have already put an entry in for next year as Manor Grand Prix.
So back up to 10 teams as of Abu Dhabi.

I thought Ted couched it more as a 'possibly' Than a guaranteed presence depending on funding coming through...suffolk009 said:
Looks like Bernie wants Red Bull and Ferrari to run 3 car teams, being widely reported now.
Why not McLaren, Mercedes, and the others though?
If I understand it correctly, certain teams are obliged to do so if asked to get the numbers over 16 cars. Why not McLaren, Mercedes, and the others though?
I suspect not all teams have that obligation, but I would be surprised if Merc don't (be nice to see JB in a Merc!).
