Do I bother paying for a 24hr NowTV pass for this? Hard to overtake, pending any major dramas, the race will be settled on Saturday won't it?
Sunday, Imola, city of Bologna.

83% chance of rain.

Imagine the last few laps if Merc get Hamilton ahead of Max. The faster RB all over Hamilton for lap after lap. It could be like Senna holding off Mansell at Monaco.

You might want to check if the race is available for free beforehand. I paid for the first race only to find out that it was broadcast free on NowTV. Great way to ps off your paying customers.

It’s prototype racing. You have to be both fast and reliable.

To finish first...

My money’s still on Lewis and Mercedes over the season.
Agree with this.
At least there will be something interesting happening at the front this season

Schumacher and Alonso here in 2005, although hopefully without an ad break in the last five laps like we had in the bad old days of ITV F1.

Sounds like most would take the RedBull car this weekend, but their drivers or Merc's if it's wet?

Rain is the great equaliser

Expecting Hamilton, Verstappen, Vettel and Alonso to do well.

Leclerc might struggle (he always has in wet conditions....drying conditions he is pretty good)

Stroll might spring a surprise.

Oh god, yes. I’d forgotten how angry I was at that. As much as I hate all things Sky, at least you do get full coverage.

Sky’s actual F1 product is brilliant. It’s all the business-side crap about contracts and channel bundles that annoy people.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY SESSION TIMES CHANGED

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-changes-imol...

The OP might care to amend the first post. Qualifying is now an hour earlier at 1pm BST & the FP times are moved as well.

Why can’t they just change the time of the funeral?

Was Prince Philip an F1 fan? I heard he was a petrolhead but never heard anything linking him towards F1?

3pm on Saturday does seem rather an unnusual time for a funeral, but there will be dozens of moving parts in deciding when it is to be scheduled.

Chaos for sports fixtures though, with about three dozen professional football matches now kicking off either at lunchtime or in the evening, rugby matches also being rescheduled, and cricket matches taking extended lunch breaks.

My suggestion was, of course, whimsical - but I can't help but be surprised that a sporting event in another country should be re-scheduled because of the funeral. Perhaps it reflects the degree of British involvement (?influence) in F1, but I am more inclined to think that what has driven this is pressure from the advertisers fearing that viewing figures will be lower with people switching over to the events in Windsor, rather than any mark of respect to the late Duke.

I suppose that LA = 7am, NYC = 10am, Tokyo = 11pm and Sydney = midnight could have something to do with it.

The event will probably attract a world-wide TV audience many times greater than F1 and Premiership combined.

I would say that at least 70% of the paddock is made of British staff so understandably out of respect for them, they reschedule the programmes for those people to give their farewell to someone which represent Great Britain all over the world.

I am not British but totally understand the idea.

You wait till Brenda goes - the broadcasting shutdown extends far beyond what's happening for Phil.

Don't be surprised if every channel goes down for a few days & certainly for the day of the funeral.

I don't know if the old boy was an F1 fan but I do know he was friends with Jimmy Savile.

I for one won't be mourning the old b*stard.
