Really?

They survive in the game as far as I can tell.
I rate them as a solid mid field team who struggle with the first half of the season then seem to pick up in the second half. I understand your point of view though. I see Williams as "just surviving" right now.

Therein lies my problem with him, despite his stunning record I just can't warm to him due to this and his overall smugness.

Blimey. Comparing the behaviours of drivers separated by 45 years. If we base it on behaviour in victory, Clark wouldn't have approved of Senna either (and even less after he punched Irvine), or Schumacher, etc..

Congratulations to Seb, a thoroughly deserved 4th title. He drove another blinder and is the real deal as far as I'm concerned. Quite what he has to do to convince some people is beyond me.

And that's coming from me, a stinking Hamilton fanboi!

That's actually been covered ad-nauseum on here but in summary; i) have a top notch team mate such as Raikkonen ii) win a championship in a different car.

Speaking for myself, and probably for many others, like most Brits I like to see the underdog do well. I just take no pleasure in watching him pull a lead within the first few corners and remain there for the rest of the race, where the only possibility of him not winning comes down to a mechanical failure or driver error. Where's the entertainment in that?!

I don't dispute the fact that he's a talented driver. I just wish the playing field were more level so that it came down to actual talent - and the car was not a deciding factor. Which it clearly is.

I doubt he would, senna was a over-excitable loon who took people out to win championships. By contrast, Moss never won his WDC because he was too much of a gent and relinquished his car to his team mate... Which is better/worse?

I think Prost was a good blend - confident, bit arrogant, master of the mind games but kept it to mind games, nothing physical. Vettel reminds me of Prost. He is exuberant in celebrations and supremely confident, and hasn't done a Senna/Schumacher (as yet).

I don't see where the hate comes from to be honest, but i am pretty sure we wouldn't be seeing it if he was British.

I am really not picking up any hate. I certainly have no problem with the lad, he's one of the leading jockeys on the grid. And he seems to be having the time of his life.

But, like many, I think his success is tempered by the creeping, niggling sense that he would never be in this position if he was'nt in an RB, with that entire team and car designed around him and him alone.

Many would love to see him win in a different car. There is a definite sense that we are really witnessing Adrian Newey's excellence above Sebastien Vettel's.

I felt the same way about Jensen in the Brawn as well. So its not about Seb personally, nor the fact that he is'nt British.

Did I hear the Dam Busters theme played after the podium interviews? I'm sure it went "Der ner ner ner ner na na..."

Haven't read the full thread but couldn't see it on a quick Google search.

Last year Vettel lost the ROC in the Semi's.

Grosjean was overall winner. He beat Tom Chistensen I think..

He's not talking about the individual event, but the team one, in which Vettel and MSC are have been unbeatable since becoming team mates in 2007. Remind me how long Vettel's been driving for Red Bull?

The finger is pretty smug and undignified though.

But I think he has realised this - hasn't he calmed it down for the last race? He doesn't like that people don't seem to like him ( - and it obviously hurts.

Do feel quite sorry for him really in this respect - I think he is paying for his previous actions (The Finger, Turkey, Malaysia), being favoured over Webber (Silverstone) and the suspicious nature of Webbers bad strategy and team errors, Red Bull domination (and what this may entail) and some basic jingoism.

The current state of F1 doesnt help - and it can feel like everything (e.g. Tyres) is engineered for Vettel to win. Easy to feel short changed.

OH FFS, GIVE THE YOUNG GUY A BREAK

The boys done good, Red bull are at the top of their game at the moment and good luck to them.

It won't last, the other teams will come out with some new fandango bit of wing or light weight engine nut or something and then Red bull will be on the back foot, just look back over the years when Williams, Ferrari had a run at it, its F1 that's how it works, stop moaning.

Carry on chaps biggrin

JB, MW et al don't seem to put the 'spoilt child' face on like he does, and they've had a lot more reason to do so.
