I`ve always wondered why he didn't get more attention for being first gay world champion. Thought that would be a big thing.

Well firstly, how do you know he’s gay?

Secondly, why would it matter if he’s gay or not?

Agreed completely.

Southgate and Kane getting honours boils my piss too!
Why? Hamilton is in the best team, with the best car, has arguably the most ability.

The England footy team were written off and over achieved, made the nation happy.

The honours list isn’t a measure of sporting greatness. Just gets you invites to better parties.
Honours should be given to truly great sports people when they retire, not because they lucked their way to the semi finals of the sport of the stupid!

Someone alluded to this before with nothing to prove/substantiate the claim... Same with Braaaad. Perhaps Brad is ready to kiss and tell wink

I don’t believe Hamilton is gay and if he is, good for him. I couldn’t care less.

For Brad to bring it up it says more about him than anything else.

But Hamilton would ignore the dress code and be turned away at the door...

Tut tut... Events have dress codes. Wimbledon was an event.
Any decent proper party doesn’t have a dress code wink

What on earth are some of you on.?
It makes no odds to me if he is gay or not, but I have always been under the impression he was just not out. Someone I know met him through his business and said it became obvious he was, but like I say no odds to me. I just thought it was kind of well known and more people would make an issue of a gay world champ. Christ I don't even follow f1 lol. Too boring for me.

I know major sports have an issue with homophobic fans and that plenty big name sports persons stay in the closet as it were to suit their image.

Some comments on here say more about the posters that I ever could. Strike a nerve perhaps.

The Royal family have been known to go ‘fully German’ just saying.

How did it become obvious? He’s not camp, so unless he started humping the guys leg you know or gave him a reach around in the toilet I’m not sure how it would become obvious

Gay world champ....you mean world champ. There wasn’t a big song and dance when he became the first black world champ was there...

I wasn't expecting a KCB for Lewis today but I at least thought he would get an upgrade on his MBE. After all, Susie Wolff has one. Just saying.

I agree with one of the earlier posters, people seem to be getting knighted way too early. I've never understood the honours system and if you read the full honours list you never will. It makes no sense at all.

I have no doubt that Lewis will one day get the recognition from Lizzie that he merits. In the meantime any old Tom, Dick or Henrietta will continue to get them.

Why haven't the likes of Gordon Murray, Ron Dennis, Adrian Newey et al never been recognised? That really does astound me. Maybe when F1 and WEC are running on whatever Charlie's Aston uses for fuel, they might also get the recognition they deserve.

Is that what you think gay men do to introduce themselves to each other ?

If he is gay I'm not surprised he would keep it secret if his fanbase is that homophobic.

Anyway, I don't follow it, or him and always assumed it was sort of an open secret. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't but if he is, he had an opportunity to combat homophobia in top level sport. If he isn't, then he didn't smile

I'll leave you to it.

You assumed wrong. And who cares anyway? You seem obsessed; analysing the fact he could have championed gay sportspeople but might not have done... rolleyes

As Romesh Ranganathan recently said "Lewis Hamilton doesn't have a personality"
....from a man that epitomises positive bonhomie and lively repartee.
Indeed, a more talentless fkwit you are unlikely to find!
When was the last time you sold out the O2 London ? wink
I don't care how many venues he has sold out, he's not funny and it has nothing to do with his comment about Hamilton, he's just not funny, well not to those of us with some intelligence anyway!
??

So the 16,000 people who pay to watch Romesh at the O2 are wrong, because he isn't funny.

These same 16,000 people also don't have any intelligence.

OK, got it.

And yet you brought it up, without any evidence. Plain weird.
