He was never subtle. His use of the racist word was deliberate. He must have known that such a pejorative comment would eventually emerge and he's enjoying the fuss. Nasty bit of work.

I know this is a very minor thing, but there is a YouTube video of him giving a passenger ride to a lady, I think it was his wife, and she specifically asks him not to drive like a dick and then he drives like a dick, with her screaming and begging him to stop. And he just grins and continues to drive like a dick whilst she screams.

The video is meant to be funny. However, I think it just reinforces that he is a dick.

I think you might have seen the Ricardo Patrese video. If so, very different story, Ricardo is lovely and his wife was very amused when she realised he had it all on camera and it was a bit of a prank.

That was Patrese. And he is generally perceived to be a good egg, my suspicion is they were playing to the camera.

Piquet on the other hand has been a nasty little man since the 1980's.

So revoke it. Simples. You can’t try promoting the sport globally, to all races, sexes “we race as one” and then have someone extremely closely linked to F1 ever being allowed in the paddock. What he said isn’t excusable. Having a lifetime pass is a privilege - not a right. I hope FOM get this right.

I'm pretty sure he also continued saying shi**y things about Senna even after his death. Don't have the specific quote but I certainly remember it for the crassness of it.

I get he felt threatened by him when he was alive but some respect for his family would have been basic human decency.

I took my bestie out in the Sagaris once, and just in straight-line acceleration she rapidly went through abject terror, confusion, maniacal laughter, then fits of giggles, then asked to do it again. I so wish I had had a camera on her; it was rather lovely.

(She had never experienced a fast car before).

Brilliant isn’t it - I wish I could remember the car - it would have to have been a pokey Caterham or Ferrari 328 as I know I was in FF1600 at the time and they were also in the garage. If you look at RP you can see he’s not even close to the limit. Genuinely happy memories from both of us.

An element of it in period I understood why he did it.

Mansell and Senna were both emotional characters. Piquet was arguably inferior to both so the jibes were his attempt at psychological warfare. Nige basically grabbed Nelson by the balls in 1987 and embarrassed him repeatedly. Piquet was particularly upset at being beaten by him as Nige was meant to be his No.2

But his vitriol towards Senna I suspect was because Brazilians loved Senna so much.

But after his death he clearly still carried that jealousy which probably still gnaws at him today.

Would you have the same opinion about him being a dick, or indeed "reinforcing that he is a dick", if you weren't completely wrong about who was in the video you watched?
